Primary Responsibility:

To collaborate effectively with the Teachers and Coordinators in a department in order to provide students with stimulating, challenging and enjoyable learning in the classroom in the absence of the regular teacher, and to offer them the encouragement they need to thrive at SJI International. Although we are particularly seeking a relief-teacher who will be able to support our Physical Education programme, we are interested in all disciplines(English, Mathematics, Science, Physical Education, Humanities).

Specific Responsibilities:

Teaching and learning

●     To effectively plan cover lessons to achieve desired objectives (for planned absences)

●     To teach a pre-planned cover lesson to achieve desired objectives (for unplanned absences)

●      Identify and adopt the most effective active, creative teaching approaches for SJI International students in line with current best practice and the ethos of our school

●     Work collaboratively with other members of the Faculty to maintain the curricular progress of students, providing as ‘normal’ a learning environment for the students as possible

●     Create a stimulating learning environment

●     Teach across the age and ability ranges from Foundation IGCSE (Grades 7 & 8)through to IGCSE (Grades 9 & 10) as appropriate to qualifications and experience

●     Adopt strategies and monitor teaching and learning activities to support individuals with SEN/ESL in line with school and faculty policy

●     Ensure compliance with all rules regarding health and safety in the classroom

●     Set and mark homework regularly in line with school and faculty policy for the period of the relief teaching

Recordingand assessment

●     Collect and record assessment data where requested to do so

●     Feedback to the teacher or HoD the progress of the students during the period of relief related to the achievement or otherwise of the stated objectives

Research Assistant/Associate (Community Innovation and Applied Social Research)

The Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC) at the Singapore University of Technology and Design(SUTD) invites applications for full-time Research Assistant/Associate appointments to support applied research and innovation projects on people, communities, and cities.

The position is suited for candidates with strong interests in mixed-methods social science research, social policy innovation, community development, and translating research into real-world impact. The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary teamworking at the intersection of behavioural science, urban planning, public health, sustainability, and community activation.

About the role

The successful candidate will contribute to projects in LKYCIC focusing on understanding how social and built environments shape individual and community outcomes, and how research can be translated into practical interventions, programmes, policies, and design solutions.

Current and upcoming projects include:

• Social capital and community resilience in neighbourhoods and community hubs
• Climate adaptation, urban heat resilience, and sustainable living
• Community activation and citizen engagement initiatives

Key responsibilities

The candidate will be expected to:

• Support the design and implementation of mixed-methods research studies
• Conduct literature reviews and evidence synthesis
• Design and administer surveys, interviews, focus groups, and workshops
• Conduct field observations and community-based data collection

The Academic Instructor is required to teach the courses in the undergraduate programs offered by the University at Buffalo, The States University of New York, US, in partnership with Singapore Institute of Management in Singapore.

Job Title: Research Technician/Assistant (Sputtering Systems)

About Us
We are an early-stage venture team developing advanced thin film materials and deposition workflow technologies for applications in optics, photonics, and memory. Our work focuses on high quality coatings and process development using sputtering-based techniques.

Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on and reliable research technician to operate and manage our sputtering system, support day-to-day experimental work, and ensure smooth lab operations. This role is critical in enabling consistent thin film deposition for internal R&D and external projects.

Key Responsibilities
• Operate and manage a sputtering system (e.g. AJA International sputtering system) independently
• Perform thin film deposition for various projects and customer requirements
• Execute day-to-day experiments following defined process parameters and protocols
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and process deviations
• Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs, including vacuum systems (pumps, leak checks, seals), gas lines and plumbing and electrical connections and wiring
• Support process optimization and data collection
• Maintain proper documentation of experiments, parameters, and results
• Ensure safe operation of equipment and adherence to lab safety protocols

Requirements• Minimum Diploma in Engineering (Materials Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field)
