Seeking three Java Software Engineers (Prefer JasperReports, React, Spring Batch, Spring Boot experience)

1 year contract under employment agency payroll
Work Location: Ang Mo Kio & customer site
Salary up to $6750
Upon end of contract, incentive of performance bonus up to 1 month basic salary subject to reporting manager's appraisal

Job Summary

The Software Engineer is responsible to develop software based on design requirements and ensure software and subroutines are working to specification. The role ensures program codes conform to standards and are delivered with quality, meeting schedule and requirements.

• Analyse process and program specifications and translate into program codes
• Ensure conformance to programming guidelines and best practices
• Make changes to configurable items including hardware, software, and documentation
• Perform configuration management planning, identification, controls, and audits
• Develop unit test packages, execute tests, and document results to ensure quality
• Support integration testing, system testing, UAT, and implementation activities
• Fix reported problems or bugs to ensure smooth execution in production
• Investigate errors and initiate amendments and testing for correct and efficient system operation
• Prepare and maintain up-to-date system documentation
• Analyse functional requirements and translate into application design using established methodologies
• Ensure codes comply with security guidelines

Requirement

• Singaporean (Need to clear pre-employment check & Project clearance before onboarding)
• Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent
• 1–4 years of experience in developing and delivering application software;
• Relevant system development and maintenance experience using Java-related technologies
• Experience with JasperReports, React, Spring Batch and Spring Boot is preferred
• Experience with Oracle or MS SQL DB is preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to think creatively
• Proficient in written and spoken English
• Willingness to work in customer site as required
• Oracle Certified Professional (Java) Preferred.

What You'll Do

• Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications across legacy and modern platforms.

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in software engineering, enterprise application development, or application support.
• Strong experience with Java, JavaScript, SQL/PLSQL, JSP, Shell Scripting, or similar technologies.
• Experience working with complex or legacy enterprise systems.
• Familiarity with APIs, databases, system integrations, CI/CD, and software delivery best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and business stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience in legacy modernisation or technology migration projects.
• Exposure to Spring Boot, Angular, Oracle, Tomcat, WebLogic, IIS, AWS, or similar enterprise technologies.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps, observability, application security, or performance monitoring.
• Experience in regulated or high-availability environments.
• Practical experience using AI tools to accelerate software development responsibly.

Responsibilities:

• Requirements gathering;
• Design,implementation and testing of the software;
• Preparation and submission of deliverables throughout the software development lifecycles such as Business Rules, Software Requirement Specifications, Software Architecture Document, Design Specification, Interface Specifications, Source Codes, Testing Specification, Operation and Maintenance Manual, Training Manual and others documents as required in the standard adopted by the Authority;
• Assist the Authority with day-to-day application support issues; and
• Liaise with users on the requirement, design and testing issues

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Recognized degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering / Computer Science or a relevant discipline;
• Been through at least one full Software Development Lifecycle;
• Experience in writing Requirements Specification, Use Cases, Design Documentation, object-oriented software design and UML modelling;
• Good knowledge and experience in C++ on Windows and/or Embedded (e.g. QNX,Vxworks, Linux etc) platforms
• Experience in multi-threading, socket programming and serial
• communication;
• At least 5 years' relevant experience in object-oriented software development;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English; and
• Self-motivated and a good team player.
• Added advantage if candidate is familiar with one or more of the following technologies:
• a. HTML /CSS / JavaScript / JSON
• b. Three-tier software architecture
• c. Database schema design and interfacing with ODBC, SQL query and MySQL
• d. Virtualization Technologies (such as hypervisors or containers)
• e. MQ/MQTT
• f. Secure Communications (e.g. FTPS, HTTPS,etc.)
