The Role

HDR is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Singapore Building Engineering Services (BES) team. This position will be working on projects across a range of markets, primarily the Mission Critical sector.

Our client is one of the leading players in the medical devices manufacturing sector. Due to business needs, they are now recruiting a Quality Engineer to be part of their Quality team for ongoing transformation projects. They are located in the east.

The Quality Engineer's responsible is:

• Act as the Quality representative for new product development and sustaining projects within the medical device portfolio.
• Provide quality and compliance support throughout the product development lifecycle, including design changes, design reviews, verification & validation, usability studies, process validation, and labeling activities.
• Lead risk management activities, including Risk Management Plans, Hazard Analysis, Risk/Benefit Assessments, and Design/Process FMEA.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify product risks, investigate potential failure modes, and implement effective risk control measures.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, FDA regulations, customer requirements, and applicable quality standards.
• Develop, review, and maintain quality procedures, SOPs, and documentation to support product development and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
• Support internal, supplier, and external audits, including the investigation and closure of non-conformities.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, process effectiveness, and QMS compliance.
• Serve as a Quality Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide guidance to engineering and project teams on quality and regulatory matters.

Job Requirements:

• Degree in life science related discipline
• Min 5 years experience in quality design within medical devices sector
• Experience in ISO13485

• You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing equipment control software for advanced semiconductor automation systems. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions aligned with customer requirements.
• Gather, analyze, and clarify customer requirements and technical specifications; prepare Software Design Documents (SDD).
• Develop equipment control software using PLC programming and C#.NET, leveraging in-house libraries and development tools.
• Implement software solutions in compliance with established coding standards and best practices.
• Perform unit testing, debugging, and system validation to ensure functionality, reliability, and performance.
• Conduct peer code reviews to maintain software quality and consistency.
• Ensure compliance with software quality processes as well as Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements.
• Develop training materials and support training sessions for Field Service Engineers and end users.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Field Service teams for system integration and deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• Eexperience or knowledge in PLC programming and/or C#.NET development.
• Familiar with IEC 61131-3 standards such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text (ST), CoDeSys, TwinCAT, or equivalent platforms.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on mindset and willingness to work on equipment integration.
• Self-motivated, independent, and adaptable with a passion for engineering excellence.
• Good communication and teamwork skills in a cross-functional environment.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and SECS/GEM communication protocols will be an added advantage.
