Role Overview
The Pavement Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and evaluation of airfield pavements, including runways, taxiways, aprons, and associated infrastructure, ensuring compliance with international and national aviation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design of flexible and rigid pavements for:
- Perform pavement design using:
- FAA / ICAO / DGCA guidelines
- Conduct:
- Pavement thickness design
- Overlay design
- Rehabilitation strategies
- Analyze:
- Traffic loading (aircraft mix & frequency)
- Subgrade characteristics
- Use software/tools such as:
- FAARFIELD
- COMFAA
- AASHTO methods
- Review geotechnical reports and integrate inputs into pavement design
- Prepare:
- Design reports
- Technical notes
- Drawings & BOQs
- Coordinate with:
- Structural / Geotechnical / Airport planners
- Provide technical support during:
- Construction & execution phase
- Conduct site investigations and coordinate field testing activities to validate design assumptions and subgrade conditions
- Perform quality assurance reviews and verify compliance with design standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements
- Develop cost estimates and budget recommendations for pavement design and rehabilitation projects
- Evaluate sustainability and environmental considerations in pavement design, including material selection and lifecycle assessment
- Prepare maintenance and performance monitoring recommendations to optimize long-term pavement durability
- Communicate design findings and recommendations to stakeholders through technical presentations and documentation
