Overview:
The M&E Engineer is responsible for the design, coordination, installation, testing, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems in construction or industrial projects. This includes HVAC, electrical power systems, plumbing, fire protection, and other building services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design & Planning
- Prepare and review M&E design drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders.
2. Project Coordination
- Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers on M&E works.
- Attend site meetings and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure proper integration of M&E systems with overall project works.
3. Site Supervision
- Monitor installation works to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Conduct inspections and ensure quality control on-site.
- Ensure works are completed according to schedule.
4. Testing & Commissioning
- Oversee testing and commissioning of M&E systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical systems).
- Ensure systems operate efficiently and safely.
- Prepare and review commissioning reports.
5. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Plan and implement preventive maintenance programs.
- Diagnose and resolve system faults or failures.
- Ensure minimal downtime of systems.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain proper documentation such as drawings, reports, and manuals.
- Prepare progress reports and technical submissions.
- Ensure all records comply with regulatory requirements.
7. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures.
