About Just After Midnight
Just After Midnight (JAM) is the go-to support partner for brands and agencies worldwide. Part of the Ultima Group, we keep mission-critical products, applications and websites running around the clock with a unique blend of 24/7 support, managed cloud services and DevOps expertise across AWS, Azure, GCP and Alibaba Cloud. With teams spanning Europe, the US, Asia and Australia, we operate on a follow-the-sun model so our clients can switch off while we stay on.
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in both Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform, combined with strong Kubernetes and networking skills, to join our growing Cloud & DevOps practice. You’ll work across a portfolio of client environments spanning AWS and GCP, designing and delivering resilient, secure and highly available infrastructure for some of the world’s most recognisable brands and agencies. This is a hands-on, senior technical role where you’ll mentor colleagues, lead architectural decisions and drive best practices across the team.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build and maintain production-grade Kubernetes clusters (EKS and GKE) across multiple client environments, ensuring high availability, auto-scaling and cost efficiency.
• Architect and implement cloud networking solutions across both AWS (VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53, ALB/NLB, Security Groups) and GCP (VPCs, Cloud Interconnect, Cloud VPN, Cloud DNS, Cloud Load Balancing, Private Service Connect).
• Define and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK, ensuring repeatable, version-controlled deployments across all environments.
• Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines (CodePipeline, Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar) to support rapid, reliable software delivery across multi-cloud estates.
• Implement robust monitoring, logging and alerting using tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging and Datadog.
• Lead incident response during critical outages, perform root cause analysis and drive remediation to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with client development teams and internal engineers to embed DevOps best practices, improve release velocity and reduce operational risk.
• Advise clients on multi-cloud strategy, helping them leverage the strengths of both AWS and GCP to meet performance, compliance and cost objectives.
• Mentor and upskill junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing and pair working sessions.
• Contribute to pre-sales and scoping activities by providing technical input on proposals and architectural recommendations.
• Champion security best practices including IAM policies, network segmentation, secrets management and DevSecOps principles across both cloud platforms.
Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of hands-on DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering experience, with significant production experience on both AWS and GCP.
• Strong production experience with Kubernetes (EKS and/or GKE), including cluster lifecycle management, Helm, service mesh (Istio/Anthos/App Mesh) and workload troubleshooting.
• Deep understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, TLS, BGP and how they apply within cloud-native and hybrid architectures.
• Proven experience designing network topologies on AWS (Transit Gateway, VPC peering, PrivateLink, Direct Connect) and GCP (Shared VPCs, peering, Cloud Interconnect, global load balancing).
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, primarily Terraform; experience with CloudFormation, CDK, Terragrunt or Pulumi is a plus.
• Solid scripting skills in Bash, Python or Go for automation and tooling.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline design and management in a multi-team, multi-project, multi-cloud environment.
• Strong knowledge of container security, image scanning, RBAC and network policies within Kubernetes.
• Excellent troubleshooting and incident management skills with a calm, methodical approach under pressure.
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
• Professional certifications from AWS (Solutions Architect Professional, Advanced Networking, DevOps Engineer) and/or GCP (Cloud Architect, Cloud Network Engineer, Cloud DevOps Engineer).
• Experience with Azure alongside AWS and GCP for true multi-cloud delivery.
• Familiarity with Anthos for hybrid and multi-cloud Kubernetes management.
• Experience with GitOps workflows using ArgoCD or Flux.
• Knowledge of FinOps principles and cloud cost optimisation strategies across multiple providers.
• Background in managed services, agency environments or consultancy.
What We Offer
• Remote-first working with flexibility around hours and location (Singapore-based).
• Opportunities for international travel and transfer between our global offices.
• Funded professional certifications from AWS, GCP, Azure and more.
• Comprehensive health package and company pension.
• A collaborative, inclusive culture with team events, knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
• Long-term client partnerships that let you build deep expertise rather than jumping between short projects.
• Career progression within a fast-growing team that’s part of the Ultima Group.
