Job Description

We are recruiting full-time Research Fellows to develop hybrid physics-AI methods for weather applications

Available data include:

•             Numerical weather prediction (NWP) model outputs

•             Weather satellite imagery

•             Radar observations

•             Lightning detection networks

•             Surface sensor observations (e.g., rainfall and wind)

The successful candidates will:

•             Develop and benchmark multimodal AI / foundation-model approaches for spatiotemporal forecasting.

•             Build reproducible AI training and evaluation pipelines, as well as uncertainty quantification strategies.

•             Work at the intersection of physics and AI, with an emphasis on geospatial computational modelling.

•             Collaborate with domain experts and (where relevant) operational stakeholders.

•             Drive scientific breakthroughs and contribute to publications and cross-institutional collaborations

Qualifications

Required / strongly preferred

•             PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, or related.

•             Strong Python and PyTorch; experience with multi-GPU/distributed training and performance optimization.

•             Experience with real-world geospatial/sensor data (quality control, cleaning, visualization).

•             Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Highly desirable

•             Deep learning expertise: generative models, physics-aware learning, uncertainty modelling.

•             Dense spatiotemporal prediction (e.g., video prediction, precipitation nowcasting).

•             Atmospheric science / tropical meteorology background (a plus, not required).

Job Description

•    Manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI) and the research team members to study, evaluate, propose and innovate on the following:
(1) High-switching frequency high temperature operation of Wide Band Gap (WBG) SiC Semiconductor devices and applications. 
(2) Establish foundational work in the modelling, design, performance evaluation, and benchmarking of SiC power devices and power electronics.
(3) Characterization of new semiconductor devices 
(4) Electrical Circuit Modelling of SiC devices at high switching frequency and high temperature.
(5) Thermal modelling and advanced cooling at high temperature of SiC devices.
(6) Simulation model of new SiC devices
(7) Loss modelling and analysis
(8) EMI filter design
(9) Gate driver design (high frequency and WBG parasitic)
(10) Benchmarking for specific applications and demonstrate features of cost, density, and weight
Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
•    Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment and assist in laboratory management.
•    Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
•    Mentor students involved in the research project
•    For those hired at senior levels, management responsibilities may be included

Qualifications

•    Have a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized University with major in Power Engineering
•    Relevant experience in power electronics, high frequency gate driver circuit design, EMI filter, loss analysis, switching strategies, and closed loop control system
•    Strong knowledge of power electronics, drives, and WBG semiconductor devices is highly preferred. Experience with hardware testing and real-time simulation will be advantageous. 
•    Knowledge and hands-on experience in Wide band gap semiconductors, device parasitic, device simulation, gare driver design for WBG devices, EMI filter design, high-switching frequency operation, thermal management, high power prototype design and testing, etc. are preferred. 
•    Knowledge of software such as PSIM, PLECS and MATLAB/Simulink
•    Prior knowledge and experience in digital twins/HIL will be a bonus
•    Prior knowledge and experience of AI/ML and automation in power electronics and power system will be useful
•    Experienced and committed to participating in project meetings.
•    Self-motivated team player and good project management skills.

Job Description

The National Initiative for RNA Biology and its Applications (NIRBA) is a pioneering national program dedicated to advancing RNA biology research. Established with support from the National Research Foundation (NRF) under the Prime Minister’s Office, Singapore, we unite experts across multiple disciplines to address critical challenges in RNA science and its applications. 

NIRBA consists of four Innovation Clusters each designed to address a key challenge in RNA biology. In each Cluster, research teams are assembled from across the three NIRBA Partners (NUS, A*STAR and NTU) to address specific scientific questions. These Clusters are supplemented by shorter term Satellite programmes, put in place where a novel knowledge gap or problem arises.

The Senior Scientific Manager (NIRBA Research Portfolio) provides scientific management and programme/ portfolio oversight for NIRBA-funded research. The role ensures that the research portfolio is strategically aligned, scientifically rigorous, and delivering high-impact outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities
Key Personal Responsibilities

• Portfolio Strategy: Manage and shape NIRBA’s research portfolio in alignment with strategic priorities and emerging scientific opportunities.
• Scientific Management: Provide expert guidance on research design, milestones, and deliverables across Clusters and Satellite Labs/ Programmes.
• Research Quality & Impact: Promote excellence, reproducibility, innovation, and translational potential within the research portfolio.
• Reporting & Evaluation: Contribute to scientific reporting for Executive Director, CGT-SC, and other institutional stakeholders

Requirments

Job Description

We are seeking a talented Visiting Research Fellow to join the National Centre for Engineering Biology, Singapore (NCEB), at the National University of Singapore. NCEB aims to advance engineering biology by developing microbial cells that enable biomanufacturing.

The Visiting Research Fellow (RF) will work closely with the Principal Investigator and research team to develop robust microbial cell platforms for biomanufacturing. The RF will design and implement strain engineering strategies, optimise metabolic pathways and cultivation conditions, and generate high-quality experimental data.

Key Responsibilities: 
1. Design, build, and characterise engineered microbial strains for production of target molecules (e.g., enzymes, chemicals, or biomaterials).
2. Develop and optimise genetic constructs and genome engineering workflows (e.g., CRISPR, recombineering, plasmid design, promoter/RBS tuning).
3. Perform metabolic pathway design and optimisation using rational design and/or high-throughput approaches; analyse data to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
4. Develop and apply analytical assays (e.g., HPLC/GC, LC-MS, plate-based assays) to quantify key metabolites.
5. Document and communicate results through lab records, reports, and presentations; contribute to manuscripts, protocols, and (where applicable) invention disclosures.

Job Description

This position involves working on a project related to the coordination of large teams of autonomous robots (e.g., UAVs) in mixed cooperative-competitive environments. The objective of this position includes contributing to model development, solution, and implementation of such collaborative controllers on actual platforms, first in simulation and then on hardware. The role involves the opportunity to work with the PI’s team within the National University of Singapore, as well as a large industrial partner and government agency, plus overseas collaborators overseas. The successful candidate will be self-motivated with an outstanding track record in robotics, control, computer science, or related disciplines, with a special focus for multi-agent/-robot systems. The main research tasks for the project include but will not be limited to:

•             Developing robust conventional and learning-based controllers for collaborative control of multi-agent robotic systems in mixed cooperative-competitive environments

•             Designing and implementing controllers in simulation and then on hardware with our partners.

Qualifications

•             Excellent coding skills in python with pytorch (distributed deep reinforcement learning, Transformers, etc.)

•             Literature review/summarizing skills
