Job Description

We are looking for a capable and motivated Research Fellow to join our research on integrated photonics. This project aims to develop integrated electro-optic modulators using emerging materials such as lithium niobate, lithium tantalate, and barium titanate.

Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking for a Manager/Assistant Manager, to be part of our R&D team, to strive towards our Mission in establishing Singapore as a leading global maritime research centre of excellence in Next Generation Port, Smart Shipping, and Green Technologies.

You will support the Deputy Executive Director and work with a team of R&D managers to strengthen R&D collaborations between our maritime industry and academia partners.

The key responsibilities will include:

Strategy Planning

· Map out latest developments and carry out gap analyses in science and technologies relevant to maritime domain, and identify new emerging areas for Singapore’s maritime strategic interests;

Qualification and Experience

a. Background in maritime, science or engineering fields with 3 years of relevant working experience

Job Description

a) Programme and Project Management
• Support the Principal Investigator in the strategic and operational management of a large portfolio of modelling and public health research projects.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, risk registers, and milestone tracking systems across multiple concurrent studies.
• Monitor project progress to ensure deliverables, reporting requirements, and key performance indicators are met.
• Coordinate across modelling teams, data analysts, collaborators, and institutional stakeholders to maintain alignment and momentum.
• Identify operational risks or bottlenecks and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
b) Grant and Financial Management
• Support pre award and post award grant management activities in coordination with institutional research administration units.
• Track project budgets, expenditures, and burn rates across grants to ensure financial compliance and sustainability.
• Prepare financial and progress summaries for the Principal Investigator and funding agencies.
• Assist in the preparation of grant reports, renewals, and new funding applications where required.
c) Stakeholder and Collaboration Management
• Serve as a central coordination point between the Principal Investigator, research team members, institutional offices, and external collaborators.
• Facilitate communication across multi institution and international partners to support complex collaborative projects.
• Organise and manage project meetings, steering committees, and technical working groups, ensuring clear documentation and follow up of action items.
• Support the development and maintenance of collaboration frameworks and data sharing workflows where needed.
d) Research Operations and Delivery Support
• Support the timely production of key research outputs including reports, manuscripts, policy briefs, and technical deliverables by coordinating inputs across team members.
• Maintain organised project documentation, version control, and reporting records aligned with funder and institutional requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of project management systems, particularly for large scale modelling and data intensive programmes.
e) Strategic Growth and Portfolio Development
• Support the Principal Investigator in scaling and coordinating large national and international research initiatives.
• Contribute to the development of new project management structures suitable for complex, multi partner programmes.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen programme efficiency, integration, and external impact.

Qualifications

• Applicants are expected to have at least a Bachelor degree from a recognised institution. Having a scientific background (undergraduate degree in a science discipline) is a plus.
• Preferrably with at least 2 years of experience in an administrative position within academic, research or healthcare sector.
• Candidates with experience in research administration, grant management, agreement review, research ethics, research compliance or database management will be at an advantage.
• A team player with effective problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to take initiative to learn on the job and manage various responsibilities.

Job Description

We are looking for a Research Engineer for the Architectures and circuits for pervasive 5G silicon chip connectivity with end-to-end system millimeter scale and 1,000X reduction in radio power consumption project led by Professor Massimo Alioto, at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS).

The selected candidate is expected to:

•    Develop innovative circuit architectures for research projects and performing transistor-level design, simulation, and layout of analog, digital blocks and mixed-signal using industry-standard EDA tools.

•    Drive the silicon chip design through the full tape-out flow, including pre-layout and post-layout simulations, physical verification (DRC/LVS), and parasitic extraction.

•    Develop test plans, designing PCB test boards, and performing detailed silicon characterization and debugging using lab equipment.

•    Authoring high-quality research papers for leading conferences and journals and presenting findings at international conferences.

•    Managing technical milestones for the project and providing technical guidance to PhD and Master's students within the group.

The appointment can commence immediately with a 1-year contract, with prospect of extension. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

The candidate must possess:
•    Min a bachelor’s degree in either Electrical Engineering or strictly related (e.g., Computer, Electronics, Communication, or Information Engineering).
•    Knowledge on circuit architectures, transistor-level design.
•    Knowledge on silicon chip design, EDA tools.
•    Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
•    Good communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Open to fixed term contract.
