Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant in the Metabolic Phenotyping Core (MetCPU) at the Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. MetCPU provides human metabolic phenotyping services for subjects in clinical studies, who are typically recruited by the researchers themselves. These services include oral and intravenous glucose tolerance tests, the mixed-meal tolerance test, glucagon stimulation tests, euglycemic and hyperglycemic clamp studies, and indirect calorimetry. The Core also collaborates and provides research support service to other researchers in NUS and NUH.

Appointments will be made on a 12-month contract basis, with the possibility of extension which is subject to funding availability and performance.

Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator, team members and collaborators to ensure the successful completion of research projects and smooth operation of MetCPU. The RA’s principal role is to provide integrated research, clinical, coordination, and administrative support, including serving as study coordinator and liaison with other study teams and collaborators.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will liaise with the relevant personnel in university, hospital, and collaborating laboratories to streamline recruitment, biospecimen collection, biospecimen flow and processing, data collection, data management and will be accountable to the Principal Investigator (PI). The RA will be able to:

• Oversee the general management and day-to-day coordination of the multiple projects across study sites;
• Provide administrative and secretarial support to the projects, such as organizing regular meetings to maintain regular communication with other members of the research team and collaborate with the study sites;
• Undertake the day to day running of the project at the study site, e.g. Collaborate and coordinate with team members at the study sites, recruitment, data collection at hospitals/university/participants’ homes;
• Maintain study database and tracking logs, as well as assist in preparing both progress and final reports of the project;
• Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures;
• Assist with ethics and grant applications, renewals, safety documents, and ongoing regulatory and grant administration.
• Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI or team manager.

I am looking for up to two highly skilled and motivated individuals to work with me as full-time research professionals. 

You will work with NUS Business School Professor Karsten Müller at the Department of Finance. For the most part, you will support Karsten’s research agenda on macro-financial linkages and historical macroeconomic statistics. This work uses macro and micro data and cutting-edge statistical methods to understand when credit booms endanger financial stability, what the sources of long-run growth are, and how boom-bust cycles can shape the economy of a country for decades. Among other things, you will help to (a) construct novel data sources to measure credit market conditions and historical macroeconomic outcomes, (b) analyse data to understand the role of financial frictions on firm outcomes, and (c) help estimate measures of economic activity ranging back centuries for many countries. 
 
You will work with us on a variety of tasks, including data collection and analysis, statistical programming and data visualization, conducting literature reviews, summarizing research findings and policy documents, and editing research papers. You will have access to resources, including part-time research assistants, and collaborate closely with other members of Professor Müller’s lab. The most important requirement for this position is that you are highly ambitious and eager to learn, and you should ideally bring a proven an interest in economic research. 

The position is based in Singapore. A successful candidate will be able to participate in the academic life at NUS, including the ability to attend research seminars and potentially PhD courses. Job Description

The Research Fellow will drive the development of atomic-layer-deposited (ALD) oxide semiconductor (OS) thin-film transistors and aggressively scaled short-channel OS devices for back-end-of-line (BEOL) integration with CMOS. Key responsibilities include:
•    Develop and optimize ALD processes for oxide semiconductor channel materials (e.g., IGZO, ITO, IZO) and BEOL-compatible gate dielectrics, including recipe development, precursor evaluation, and post-deposition treatments.
•    Design, fabricate, and characterize short-channel OS transistors targeting sub-100 nm channel lengths, with emphasis on contact engineering, access resistance reduction, and threshold voltage control.
•    Execute full process flows in the NUS cleanroom, including lithography, etch, deposition, and metallization; develop BEOL-compatible integration modules.
•    Perform electrical characterization (DC, pulsed I–V, low-frequency noise, TDDB/BTI reliability) and correlate device performance with process conditions and materials properties.
•    Prepare manuscripts for top-tier venues (IEDM, VLSI, Nature journals) and present results at international conferences.
•    Mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and assist with grant reporting and proposal preparation.

Qualifications

Essential:
•    PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
•    Hands-on cleanroom fabrication experience with thin-film transistors or advanced CMOS/BEOL process modules.
•    Demonstrated expertise in ALD process development, including familiarity with thermal and plasma-enhanced ALD tools, precursor chemistry, and in-situ/ex-situ film characterization.
•    Strong background in semiconductor device physics, transistor electrostatics, and short-channel effects.

The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore invites applications for a full-time Research Assistant position for the period of August 2026 to July 2027.  The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of Dr. Dean Dulay, Assistant Professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.  The successful candidate will support an active research program in comparative politics, with a thematic focus on state formation, colonial political development, governance, and public opinion in Southeast Asia and beyond.

• Conduct and synthesize literature reviews
• Assist in the design and implementation of survey and experimental studies
• Support multi-country data collection and fieldwork
• Carry out qualitative and quantitative data analysis
• Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for submission to peer‑reviewed journals
• Assist with interview coordination and transcription as part of ongoing fieldwork activities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Political Science, Public Policy, or a related social science discipline
• Prior research experience in comparative politics or Southeast Asian studies (advantageous)
• Proficiency in quantitative data analysis preferred
• Working knowledge of statistical software, particularly Stata and R, strongly desirable
• Detail-oriented, self-directed, and capable of managing multiple tasks across concurrent projects in a fast-paced research environment
• Due to nature of the role, strong written and oral communication skills in English required

This is a one‑year, full‑time appointment based in Singapore, with the possibility of extension subject to performance and funding availability.

Research Fellow (membrane) positions in the Department of Chemical Engineering at National University of Singapore (NUS).

As a Research Fellow, you will work on an industry-funded project focussing on scaling up advanced membrane systems for carbon capture applications. The role involves designing, optimizing, and scaling membrane modules and testing platforms. We are seeking independent, talented, and experienced individual who is motivated to translate research into practical technology.

Key Responsibilities
-    Lead the design and fabrication of membrane modules for gas separation applications.
-    Fabricate hollow fiber membranes via spinning processes for gas separation.
-    Scale up hollow fiber membrane and module fabrication from laboratory to pilot scale.
-    Design and build testing setups for hollow fiber membrane gas separation systems.
-    Conduct membrane performance testing for carbon capture applications.
-    Liaise with manufacturing partners and vendors to develop prototypes and ensure successful fabrication from design to production.
-    Willing to learn simulation tools, such as ASPEN HYSYS, COMSOL CFD, Matlab.
-    Perform process simulation and optimization using tools such as Aspen HYSYS.
-    Conduct CFD simulations to optimize membrane module design.
-    Develop and improve experimental and modeling workflows for membrane scale-up.

Job Requirements

-    PhD in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
-    Strong knowledge of membrane materials, membrane chemistry, and gas separation mechanisms.
-    Experience in hollow fiber membrane spinning and module fabrication for gas separation applications.
-    Experience in membrane testing and characterization for gas separation systems.
-    Experience working with polymeric or crystalline materials (e.g., MOFs, ZIFs, COFs) is preferred.
-    Additional experience in membrane technology scale-up is an advantage.
-    Familiarity with Aspen HYSYS, COMSOL (CFD), or MATLAB is beneficial.
-    Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
-    Not afraid to experiment and enjoys hands-on tinkering.
-    Thinks critically and develops customized solutions to troubleshoot problems.
-    Interest in entrepreneurship or startup ventures is encouraged.
-    Fluent in English (written and spoken).
