Job Description

We are looking for an experienced clinical monitor to perform the study monitroing in ADVANcing Clinical Evidence in Infectious Diseases Network (ADVANCE ID). ADVANCE ID is jointly funded by the Wellcome Trust and Singapore institutions including the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. The vision of the Network is to improve public health by developing the clinical evidence base for the prevention and treatment of drug-resistant infections. Its mission is to build and sustain a strategic clinical research network focussed on most efficiently delivering locally relevant interventions for drug-resistant infections.

The Network aims to improve and strengthen clinical research capabilities in the region by acting as a platform to develop good principles and practices. It will stabilise capacity and capabilities to mitigate inefficiencies in trial start-up phase and loss of skillset following study closure, as in typical trial setup. The Network will continuously develop its capabilities, quality and efficiency by learning from and collaborating with other clinical trial networks.

In the long term, the Network aims to support broader infectious disease studies by expanding geographically beyond its original starting point in South East Asia and collaborating with other networks around the world. It will function as an active network that involves patients in platform trials, allowing for rapid clinical research response in the event of an emerging infectious disease or pandemic threat.
The monitor should be able to supervise study sites and activities to ensure adherence to appropriate study protocols and applicable regulatory requirementterms of the study.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Conduct qualification visits (QV), site initiation visits (SIV), monitoring visits (MV) and termination visits (TV) at assigned clinical sites and generate visit reports.
• Monitor the progress of clinical study sites participating in a clinical study, and to assure the protocol is followed and data is reported accurately.
• Evaluate the quality and integrity of the reported data, site efficacy and investigational product (IP) management.
• Review the performance of the trial at designated sites, ensure the rights and well-being of human subjects are safeguarded and are in accordance with protocol.
• Develop patient recruitment strategies in conjunction with the clinical site to meet enrolment timelines, while also ensuring compliance with the approved standard operating procedures (SOPs), protocol/amendment(s), GCP, and the applicable regulatory requirement(s).

Job Summary

Lead shipping operations with full P&L responsibility, optimizing costs and yields through strategic vessel selection, route planning, and customer relationship management to drive business growth and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Manage full profit and loss accountability to ensure business profitability and sustainability
• Optimize cost efficiency by selecting vessels with appropriate size, speed, and bunker consumption aligned to volume prospects and port capabilities
• Monitor daily bunker consumption using system data to ensure vessel performance aligns with Time Charter Description and benchmark against sister ships
• Secure port call berth windows to maintain schedule integrity and operational efficiency
• Analyze and control indirect costs to support financial targets
• Manage and resolve cargo, container, and vessel damage claims in coordination with legal teams
• Strategize trade routes by analyzing market demand and supply to enhance service coverage and sailing frequency through own deployment or slot swaps
• Maintain high vessel schedule integrity to meet feeder-to-mother vessel connections and provide timely ETA and ETD updates to customers
• Collaborate with marketing to select customers and deals, actively participate in tender exercises
• Identify and implement General Rate Increases (GRIs), Rate Restorations (RRs), and Critical Bunker Recoveries (CBRs) in response to cost changes across managed trades
• Coordinate rate quotations and filings with marketing to support revenue management
• Manage agencies involved in vessel operations, cargo bookings, and customer relationship management at local service locations
• Engage actively in marketing efforts, especially with key clients introduced by marketing, and manage client relations during operational crises
• Conduct business development by reviewing trade route viability and adapting to operational or market changes
• Evaluate feasibility of new services, solo or via consortiums through vessel sharing agreements
• Make quick, effective decisions and communicate strategies clearly during operational or business crises
• Maintain professional relationships with external clients, port and terminal operators, and business partners
• Stay informed on the rapidly changing business environment through personal involvement and feedback channels including media
• Develop a strong understanding of current market conditions and long-term business outlook to identify opportunities and risks

Required competencies and certifications

• Minimum 10 years of sales experience in Shipping Carriers or Freight Forwarding
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese, including reading and writing Chinese for reporting and liaison with Shanghai Headquarters
• Strong understanding of shipping carriers, freight forwarding, and supply chain solutions markets, with preference for industry vertical specialization
