Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the systems engineer will provide engineering design, technical configuration, drawing of various telecommunication systems.

He/ She will possess extensive knowledge and experience in Engineering design of telecommunication, safety & security and marine navigation systems covering technologies such as IP Infrastructure, WIFI WLAN, Firewall security, IP-PABX, PAGA, CCTV, VCS, TETRA/DMR UHF/VHF Radio, GMDSS Radio, GEO/MEO/LEO VSAT, IPTV, Radar, Gyrocompass and etc and provide engineering design, technical configuration, proof of concept as well as drawing instruction of various telecom systems.

Reponsibilites

• Take ownership of engineering design and make a truly access and understanding of client requirement and propose the right solution to fit the specs.
• Produce engineering document (VDRL) and close the client comments in a timely, high quality and accurate manner.
• Produce scratch drawing and guide the AUTOCAD drafter to come out the engineering drawing deliverables.
• Adapt the industrial standard and best practice into the engineering drawing preparation, design, review, and submission.
• Guide the in-house technician for equipment assembly and cabinet integration; implement the system configuration, simulation, testing and verification.
• Conduct factory acceptance testing (FAT) to client and provide in-house training to client as well as commissioning engineer.
• Any other ad hoc tasks required for business needs.

Requirements

• Minimum diploma in telecom or equivalent technical discipline
• Proven 4-5 years’ experience in a similar role within the industrial markets.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator with strong expertise in Linux, automation/scripting, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices. In this role, you will be responsible for managing critical systems, ensuring high availability, automating infrastructure tasks, and improving reliability across our technology stack. Applicants without Solaris experience but are fast learners and possess strong expertise in Linux system administration are welcome to apply.

Key Responsibilities

System Administration

• Install, configure, and maintain Oracle Solaris and Linux-based systems.
• Manage system performance, backups, patching, and capacity management.
• Perform system upgrades, security hardening, and troubleshooting.

Automation & Scripting

• Develop and maintain Unix shell scripts to automate routine operational tasks.
• Implement infrastructure automation using modern tools as applicable (e.g. Ansible, Python).

Site Reliability Engineering

• Apply SRE principles to enhance system reliability, scalability, and observability.
• Setup and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging systems.
• Participate in on-call rotations to support production environments, focusing on reducing toil and improving MTTR.
• Ensure SLAs/SLOs/SLIs are defined, monitored, and met.

Operational Excellence

• Manage user access, security controls, and audit support, periodic reviews and compliance requirements.
• Document system configurations, operational procedures, and root-cause analyses.
• Collaborate with development, security, and network teams to support cross-functional projects.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Must have 5+ years of hands-on and strong proficiency with Linux administration.
• Good-to-have experience with installing MySQL, JBoss and Sybase.
• Good understanding of SRE practices, automation/scripting & monitoring

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Solaris, MySQL, Sybase and virtualization technologies.
• Familiarity with Comm Vault, CyberArk, Tenable Nutanix, and Ansible.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing).
• Exposure to AWS cloud environments.
