Get to Know the Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to take part of the CX Team. You will be responsible for ensuring high quality deliverables, spanning across multiple key services powering end to end user journeys going from the login screen to the home and activity pages of the Grab app. You will be reporting to the Engineering Manager for this role. This is an onsite role based in Jakarta.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Design and write with the cutting edge Go language to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Grab's range of services
• Work with engineering team to explore and create new design / architectures geared towards scale and performance
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards
• Engage in service capacity and demand planning, software performance analysis, tuning and optimization
• Collaborate with product and experience teams to define and prototype feature specifications
• Own end-to-end delivery of product and tech initiatives
• Work closely with infrastructure team in building and scaling back-end services as well as performing root cause analysis investigations
• Design, build, analyze and fix large-scale systems
• Pro-actively debug and solve production incidents during your oncall shift
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship and knowledge sharing to peers.

We adopt a microservice architecture on the backend and use multiple frontend techniques (e.g. IOS, ADR, Flutter, and Web) to serve our end users (e.g. Consumers, Drivers, Merchants, and Partners) across 8 countries. We generalize our microservices into platforms to improve the speed of the market of new products. We follow a system principle, in which systems keep improving upon different feedback signals without human intervention
