Strategic Technical Delivery

• Lead and deliver priority projects independently with minimal oversight, ensuring timely completion while maintaining quality standards

• Navigate complex modernisation efforts involving legacy systems (Java, Appian, OutSystems, Pega Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics)

Technical Expertise

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated progression in technical complexity and scope

• Experience with modern tech stacks relevant to government systems (e.g., Java, Salesforce, Kotlin, cloud platforms like GCC/AWS)
• Proven ability to work with both greenfield development and brownfield modernisation projects
• Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and observability

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, engineer, and automate the lifecycle of OpenShift clusters, treating infrastructure as software.
• Develop robust automation for cluster provisioning, upgrades, and scaling using Ansible, Terraform, or Python.
• Implement and maintain OpenShift components such as OVN-Kubernetes networking and OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF) storage.
• Engineer reliability and performance optimizations to ensure high availability of the container platform.
• Implement GitOps workflows for cluster configuration management.

Requirements:

• Experience: Intermediate: 3+ years
• Strong expertise in Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes internals.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Bash or Python.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
• Knowledge of storage (Ceph/ODF) and networking (SDN, OVN) in a containerized environment.
• Familiarity with GitOps principles and tools.

We are looking for a passionate Full-Stack Software Engineer. You will work closely with Tech Lead, Product Managers, QA, DevOps and Data teams to build, enhance and scale our digital analytics products used across Whole-of-Government.

This role is hands-on, with a significant focus on frontend product development using React, while also contributing to backend (Node.js) services and AWS-based infrastructure. You will participate in technical planning, drive implementation excellence, and occasionally lead feature development end-to-end.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and enhance web dashboards and user interfaces using TypeScript + React.js.
• Develop backend APIs, services and internal tools using TypeScript (Node.js).
• Collaborate closely with Tech Lead to execute plans and technical direction for the platform.
• Take ownership of features — design, build, test, deploy and maintain.
• Participate actively in code reviews, system discussions and engineering best practices.
• Ensure product performance, scalability and reliability at scale.
• Contribute to AWS deployment workflows, CI/CD and infrastructure improvements.
• Produce clear documentation for systems, features and operational procedures.
• Occasionally lead and drive feature development independently.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with React + TypeScript, especially for production-scale dashboards.
• Solid backend development experience using Node.js (TypeScript).
• Hands-on experience with AWS deployments and cloud-native architecture.
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines, environments, and infrastructure as code (Terraform experience is a plus).
• Understanding of scalable architecture, performance optimisation and secure coding practices.
• Able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (PM, QA, DevOps, Data).
• Comfortable working in both new and legacy codebases, and learning fast.
• Exhibits strong ownership, clarity in communication and good engineering hygiene.

Good-to-Have

• Experience with Ruby or Golang backend.
• Knowledge of Terraform or other IaC tooling.
