QA/QC Engineer (Site) — Semiconductor Construction

QAM is the QA/QC partner the biggest names in semiconductor — Micron, Intel, TI, and the major foundries — trust to make sure their facilities are built to spec the first time. We're looking for a mechanical/Electrical/Process QA/QC Engineer who takes pride in catching the defect before it becomes a problem, and we'll put you on the largest projects in the region.

If you know your way around a weld map, a helium leak test, and an MOS — and you'd rather be on the floor than behind a desk — read on.

What you'll do

• Own the mechanical and process-piping QA/QC scope on live semiconductor construction sites — UHP and specialty gases, high-purity process piping, CDA, PCW, chilled water and process utilities.
• Run the inspections that matter: weld fit-up and visual inspection, walk-downs against P&IDs, ISO drawings and specs, and hold-point sign-offs that gate the work forward.
• Witness and verify pressure, helium leak, moisture, oxygen and particle-purity testing — and make sure every result is documented and traceable.
• Review and mark up ITPs, method statements (MOS), WPS/PQR and material submittals; verify incoming material authenticity before it's installed.
• Raise, track and close out SORs and NCRs — and coach the crews so the same issue doesn't come back.
• Keep the quality record clean and current in the project's digital systems, right through to testing, commissioning and handover.

What you'll bring

• 4–7 years of QA/QC site experience in semiconductor, electronics, pharmaceutical, oil & gas or comparable high-spec industrial construction.
• Hands-on knowledge of process and high-purity piping: orbital welding, tube fit-up, fittings, valves, pressure testing and leak/purity validation.
• Confident reading P&IDs, isometrics, layouts and technical specs, and applying ASME, ANSI, ASTM and relevant codes.
• A degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent technical experience), and the discipline to keep documentation audit-ready.
• Comfortable on an active construction site, coordinating with contractors, vendors and owner teams — and not shy about stopping work when quality demands it.

• Ensure equipment operation complies with quality systems (e.g. IATF 16949, ISO 9001, automotive standards where applicable).

5. Continuous Improvement & Industrial Efficiency

• Analyze data and KPIs; identify bottlenecks and chronic losses.
• Lead or participate in Lean/Six sigma/SMED activities for cycle time, cost, energy, and throughput improvements.
• Drive standardization of settings, PM procedures, troubleshooting guides, and documentation.

6. Safety, Environment & Compliance

• Ensure strict adherence to EHS rules (chemicals, slurry, gases, high voltage, vacuum, cleanroom, LOTO).
• Participate in risk assessments, FMEA, and implementation of safety interlocks and procedures.
• Maintain compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements (e.g. waste handling, emissions).

7. Documentation, Training & Knowledge Management

• Create and maintain equipment documentation: procedures, checklists, work instructions, recovery plans.
• Train and coach maintenance technicians on equipment usage and basic troubleshooting.
• Contribute to knowledge base and share best practices across shifts and sites.

Job Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• Min 5 years of relevant work experience in CMP area, familiar with CMP Equipment (AMAT MirraMesa, Ebara F-REX200, Ontrak, etc.).
• Strong troubleshooting skills and deep technical knowledge.
• Knowledge of SPC, FMEA, 8D methodologies.

Overview

Element has an opportunity for an Associate Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Engineer position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. This role is based in Tuas Loop, Singapore.

Responsibilities

- Closely involved – as a contributing team member – with a variety of assignments with the laboratory

- Accountable for technical activities of a limited scope and may attain additional responsibilities for release of standard and/or routine data to clients

- Conduct Routine Tests such as stripping test, moisture content, rebar’s geometrical measurements

- Work with Engineer and lead with advanced tests, including tensile test and ad-hoc experiments.

- Accurately record and report data from tests.

- Possess the ability to effectively contribute to technical presentations and communications within the engineering discipline

Skills / Qualifications

- Possess a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

- Working knowledge of laboratory safety

- In-depth understanding of testing concepts

- Ability to analyze and compile testing data from the tests performed

This position involves being responsible for providing deep mechanical engineering expertise to ensure high availability, efficiency, and reliability of all mechanical systems within the data centre. This role supports critical facility operations, establishes engineering standards, oversees mechanical maintenance, and ensures that all infrastructure—including cooling systems, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, and fuel systems—meets performance, resilience, and regulatory requirements.

• Serve as the primary technical authority for mechanical and thermal systems across the data centre.
• Establish mechanical engineering standards, operating guidelines, and performance benchmarks.
• Provide technical input and consultation for cooling designs, system upgrades, troubleshooting, and incident investigations.
• Conduct system performance audits, thermal risk assessments, and efficiency studies.

• Oversee mechanical equipment operations including (but not limited to) :
• Chillers and chiller plants
• Cooling towers and condenser water systems
• CRAC/CRAH units & In-Row/In-Rack cooling systems
• AHUs, ventilation systems, and building HVAC
• Pumps, heat exchangers, valves, and piping networks
• Fuel systems (for generators) from a mechanical perspective
• Fire suppression and water leak detection systems

• Improve resilience and uptime of mechanical systems through continuous improvement programs.
• Lead mechanical Root Cause Analyses (RCA) for cooling or mechanical incidents.
• Maintain and update mechanical schematics, sequence of operations (SOO), and emergency procedures.
• Support thermal load studies, bottleneck analysis, and cooling capacity planning.
• Evaluate redundancy strategies (N, N+1, 2N) and mechanical failover scenarios.
• Review and approve mechanical designs, technical drawings, method statements, and shop drawings.
• Serve as SME for construction, renovation, and expansion projects involving mechanical systems.
• Participate in FAT, SAT, IST, and integrated cooling system performance testing.
• Ensure all new installations meet safety, efficiency, and uptime requirements.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and codes (ASHRAE, ISO, NFPA, local building and mechanical codes).
• Enforce mechanical safety protocols and review risk assessments and PTW/LOTO processes as applicable.
• Maintain accurate mechanical documentation, system reports, performance logs, and audit records.
