The firm adopts a combination of fundamental and quantitative investment strategies, managing a diversified and high-volume portfolio across multiple sectors. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a hands-on IT Engineer to support and enhance their trading and investment infrastructure.
Job Description
This role sits at the intersection of investment technology, operations, and infrastructure. You will work closely with portfolio managers and the trading desk to build and maintain systems that directly support investment execution, risk monitoring, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate is highly driven, technically strong, and excited to operate in a fast-paced buy-side environment where technology directly impacts performance.
Key Responsibilities:
OMS / PMS Customisation
• Develop and enhance in-house capabilities for Order Management Systems (OMS) and Portfolio Management Systems (PMS)
• Improve trade execution workflows, reconciliation processes, and data accuracy
• Integrate internal tools with existing trading systems
Automation & Process Optimisation
• Build Python-based tools to automate daily operational workflows and reduce manual intervention
• Streamline trade lifecycle processes including booking, reconciliation, and reporting
• Improve efficiency and minimise operational risk through automation
Risk Monitoring & Reporting
• Design and implement real-time risk monitoring dashboards
• Provide alerts on portfolio exposure, limit breaches, and key risk indicators
• Support reporting frameworks for internal stakeholders
Infrastructure & Systems Oversight
• Act as the key internal liaison with external IT Managed Service Providers (MSP)
• Ensure high system availability (targeting 99.9% uptime) across hardware, cloud, and network infrastructure
• Support cloud environments (e.g. AWS, Azure) and on-premise systems
Security & Technology Risk
• Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls in line with MAS Technology Risk Management (TRM) guidelines
• Support access control, system monitoring, and incident response processes
• Ensure systems and processes meet internal and regulatory security standards
Hardware & End-User Support
• Troubleshoot and manage high-performance trading workstations and related hardware
• Oversee hardware lifecycle management and upgrades
• Provide support to front-office users where required
Key Requirements
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in financial services IT, trading systems support, or automation within investment, banking, or fintech environments
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL (hands-on coding required)
• Prior experience supporting trading systems, OMS/PMS, or financial platforms is preferred
• Familiarity with financial technologies such as FIX protocol, Bloomberg API, or OMS/PMS platforms (e.g. Enfusion, Eze, Imagine) is advantageous
• Knowledge of Windows/Linux server environments and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure)
• Understanding of MAS Technology Risk Management (TRM) guidelines or similar security frameworks is a plus
• Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive and ownership-driven mindset
• Ability to work closely with traders, portfolio managers, and operations teams
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-performance environment
• Candidates who are able to start immediately or within short notice will be highly preferred
