Role Overview

Work within a team environment to ensure daily availability of wintel servers with significant business or IT impact, handling all Windows Server OS installations, administrations, incidents, Root Cause. 

Responsibilities

• Implementation of Windows based infrastructure based on business requirements.
• Ongoing maintenance, security, and availability of Windows based infrastructure based on business requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Windows OS related incidents and problems according to customer processes.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for OS related service problems as part of problem management.
• Liaise with support vendors for maintenance, support or issues resolution.
• Support Windows Server based systems, system software, clustering software and system management agents.
• Assist in analysing historical usage for tracking and trending by CPU, memory, I/O and storage.
• Implement capacity improvement plan.
• Assist in developing and maintaining the Technical Disaster Recovery Plan. Provide technical support during disaster.
• Execute Technical Disaster Recovery plan during DR and DR drill.
• Setting up and managing Windows Active Directory experience inclusive of managing GPOs and user profiles.
• Setting up and managing Windows Clustering, VMWare hosts (inclusive of VCenters) and virtual machines including all OS platforms (Linux and windows).
• Working knowledge in VMware vSphere 4.x and above.
• Setting up and managing Hyper-V and virtual machines & Netbackup and/or BackupExec, including defining backup policies based on industry standards.
• Setting up and managing enterprise-wide Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager, including defining policies based on industry standards.
• Review event logs on a regular basis based on business requirements.
• Manage the server OS patching procedure and security hardening

Responsibilities

The Backend Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and secure backend services that power digital products. The role requires expertise in software engineering principles, modern development practices, and cloud-native architecture. Engineers must work in an agile, DevOps-driven environment, ensuring high software quality, reliability, and security.

a) Collaborate with Business Analysts (BA) and Product Managers to refine user stories and translate them into technical requirements.

b) Work with Quality Assurance (QA) engineers to ensure automated test coverage and proactively fix bugs and defects.

c) Partner with DevOps teams to automate build, deployment, and monitoring pipelines.

d) Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance APIs and backend services in a cloud-native environment.

e) Implement modern software development practices, including TDD, pair programming, and CI/CD.

f) Conduct code reviews, enforce security best practices, and ensure software craftsmanship standards.

g) Design and document system architecture, ensuring compliance with government security and regulatory standards.

Experience and Skills Needed

2.1 Technical Skills

a)     Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer or Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or related disciplines.

b)     Experience with Git and modern branching workflows (GitFlow, trunk-based development).

c)      Proficiency in modern backend programming languages such as: Shell Scripting, Java,  Python, Golang, Node.js.

d)     Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GoogleCloud). e)  

f)       Familiarity with microservices architecture andevent-driven patterns is a plus (Kafka, RabbitMQ).

g)     Hands-on experience with containerization andorchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).

h)     Experience with CI/CD pipelines (ex. GitHub Actions,GitLab CI,).

i)       Knowledge of database technologies (ex. PostgreSQL,MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis).

2.2 Software Engineering Practices

c)      Strong understanding of test automation frameworks(example: JUnit, PyTest ).

Job Duties:

• Provide Level 2 operational support for Windows Servers / Linux across AWS platforms

• Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, WSUS, and Windows clustering to ensure high system availability.

• Conduct scheduled Windows Server patching using WSUS, SCCM, AWS Systems Manager

Job Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on Windows / Linux administration and at least 2 years of cloud operations experience (AWS preferred).

• Strong proficiency in Windows Server (2016–2025) administration and Active Directory services.

• Experience managing Windows workloads across AWS including EC2, S3, IAM, Azure VMs, and Compute Engine.

• Deep understanding of OS patching processes, tools, and compliance tracking.

• Experience with CIS benchmarks, vulnerability remediation, and IAM access controls in secure environments.

• Proficiency in PowerShell and familiarity with AWS CLI, Azure CLI, and gcloud CLI.

• Working knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management) and ITSM tools like ServiceNow or Jira.
