Purpose of the post

The Research Fellow will join a programme of research investigating how cultural contexts and family socialisation shape children's and adolescents' social-emotional and cognitive development. Using longitudinal designs, the project examines parent–adolescent communication in Singaporean families, with a particular focus on translating empirical findings into evidence-based interventions that promote adolescent psychosocial well-being amid rapidly advancing AI technologies. The lab maintains an active collaboration with Singapore's largest prospective birth cohort study, Growing Up in Singapore Towards Healthy Outcomes (GUSTO), offering access to rich, nationally relevant developmental data.

This fellowship provides substantial opportunities for new PhDs seeking significant experience, mentorship, and networking, as well as close collaboration with the Principal Investigators and considerable involvement in authorship of abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts.

Main duties and responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate include but are not limited to:

1. Working closely with the PI and research team to develop new research ideas, write up and present project proposals.
2. Designing research protocols, drafting ethics applications, planning data collection strategies, guided by literature reviews and best practices.
3. Recruiting, leading, and training teams comprising Research Assistant(s), Undergraduate, and Graduate Students, in the conduct of developmental research.
4. Establishing and managing research databases.

Qualifications

The applicant should have:

Purpose of the post

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to coordinate data collection and support research operations under the Growing Up in Singapore Towards healthy Outcomes (GUSTO) birth cohort study.  The Research Assistant/Associate will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigators and study team members to ensure the successful completion of GUSTO projects on time. The RA’s principal role will be to work in general practices such as data collection, data entry and analysis and drafting of publications and reports.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Assistant/Associate will be expected to:

4. Draft ethics approval forms in accordance with IRBs.

Context

The DesCartes Programme, led by CNRS@CREATE in Singapore, brings together AI, engineering and human sciences to design trustworthy hybrid AI systems. In partnership with the National University Health System (NUHS), WP1 (Agent-Based Modelling) and WP6 (Ethics of Autonomy and Care in AI Decision-Making) are jointly developing an agent-based model (ABM) to support the redesign of selected NUH services. Grounding this model in empirically rich descriptions of care practices, patient trajectories and staff routines requires dedicated field-based human sciences work.

Mission

Working at the interface between WP1 and WP6, the Research Assistant will contribute to the design and implementation of human sciences methodology feeding into the ABM.Main tasks:

- Design and conduct field observations.

- Prepare and carry out semi-structured interviews with healthcare staff, patients and caregivers; transcribe and analyse the material (thematic/qualitative analysis).

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant for “Learning about Our behavior is Valuable for Increasing Nurturing relationships and healthy Growth (LOVING)” in the Medicine Dean's Office, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

The LOVING project is a large-scale intervention study evaluating two evidence-based parenting programs (VIPP-SD-SingH and CARE-SD) compared with an active control (Neuroeducation for Parents). The study involves 624 Singaporean families with children aged 2–5 years from very-low to median income backgrounds.

The project examines the feasibility, acceptability, and implementation of both in-person and digitally delivered parenting interventions. It includes qualitative interviews and self-report data from parents and home-interveners across structured program sessions, with a focus on culturally adapted, scalable approaches to supporting positive parenting and child development in Singapore.

Appointments will be made on a 12-month contract (Full-time) basis with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and study team members to ensure the successful completion of the pilot and trial phases on time.  

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Assistant will liaise with the LOVING team to facilitate recruitment and data collection processes and will be accountable to the Principal Investigator. The RA will:

c) Perform data entry, data management, and secure storage of research data in accordance with study protocols

Qualifications

The applicant should:

1. Hold a degree qualification in Psychology, Implementation Science, Social Work, Counselling, Nursing, Education, or a related discipline
2. Have prior experience working with parents and young children in a professional and/or relevant personal capacity
3. Be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
4. Demonstrate keen observational skills and attention to detail
5. Be personable, compassionate, and comfortable engaging with families
6. Possess good self-management skills, be responsible, and be flexible with working hours to accommodate participant schedules
7. Have conversational fluency in at least one mother tongue (highly preferred) as you may be required to liaise with participants who only speak their mother tongue
8. Experience with research data collection, data management, or basic statistical software will be an advantage

Job Purpose

The Research Assistant supports research projects by assisting with data collection, analysis, documentation, and reporting. The role works closely with project leads and stakeholders to ensure research activities are conducted accurately, ethically, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and implementation of research studies

• Conduct literature reviews and data collection (e.g. surveys, interviews, administrative data)

Requirements
