Our client is a Singapore-based engineering firm focused on delivering precision cooling solutions for mission-critical environments, including data centres and high-performance computing systems.
They are looking for a Solutions Design Engineer who will play a key role in delivering end-to-end technical solutions across pre-sales and project execution phases. Acting as the technical bridge between Sales, Engineering, and Operations, this role transforms customer requirements into compliant, efficient, and cost-effective HVAC and building systems solutions. The position involves solution design, technical proposal development, testing and commissioning support, and close engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1) Solution Design & Pre-Sales Engineering
- Review project specifications, drawings, and client requirements to develop optimized HVAC and building system solutions.
- Perform system engineering activities such as load calculations, system sizing, equipment selection, and Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation.
- Conduct site surveys and technical assessments to gather essential design inputs.
- Partner with Sales teams to provide technical advice, value engineering alternatives, and solution recommendations.
- Present technical solutions, system architectures, and design concepts to clients, consultants, and partners.
2) Technical Proposal & Tender Support
- Prepare comprehensive technical submissions including proposals, compliance statements, method statements, and datasheets.
- Review tender documentation to ensure full alignment with contractual, statutory, and project requirements.
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project teams to validate technical feasibility and assumptions.
- Support tender clarifications, technical negotiations, and value engineering discussions.
3) Testing, Commissioning & Technical Support
- Provide technical support during system testing, commissioning, and performance verification stages.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to HVAC and building systems.
- Develop alternative or workaround solutions to overcome site constraints, system limitations, or operational challenges.
- Offer on-site and remote technical assistance during critical project phases.
4) Technical Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as design reports, commissioning records, incident reports, and operation manuals.
- Maintain accurate records of system configurations, compliance status, and installed solutions.
- Conduct technical training for customers, partners, and internal teams.
- Contribute to standard solution frameworks, technical templates, and best-practice libraries.
5) Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Serve as the technical liaison across Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and After-Sales teams.
- Provide timely technical updates and highlight risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Share field insights and customer feedback to support product and solution enhancements.
- Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and client engagements.
Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum with internship experience in HVAC, BMS, CRAC, or building systems solution engineering, pre-sales, or technical support roles.
- Solid understanding of HVAC and building services systems, including mechanical and electrical principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation and presentations.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or BIM tools for drawing interpretation and design review.
- Familiarity with testing, commissioning, and system performance validation processes.
