The Department is looking for a forward-thinking senior professional in the field of urban planning/urban design whose work demonstrates sustained commitment to understanding cities as complex, interconnected systems. The ideal candidate should have a robust professional portfolio and/or extensive urban design and/or urban planning studio teaching experience. He/she should be able to demonstrate how leveraging professional experience as a teaching tool can inform the academic curriculum, within the academic studio setting and beyond. 
The applicant should hold a relevant graduate degree (Master or above) by the time of appointment. He/she should demonstrate a strong and sustained career in practice for at least 6 years and show the potential to be a leader in a domain of specialization.
We are particularly interested in candidates who are able to work across disciplines and scales – from (building/urban space to) neighborhood to city to region – to address pressing environmental, urban, and social challenges in Singapore, Asia and beyond, and who can translate professional connections and practice knowledge into sound pedagogical frameworks and research opportunities for the department. This role is ideal for a cost professional experienced in tenant fit‑outs, corporate workplaces, refurbishments, and restacking works, working closely with designers, project managers, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Planning & Budget Management

• Prepare initial cost estimates, detailed cost plans, and budgets for office fit‑out projects at all design stages.
• Provide cost advice during design development, including space planning, materials selection, finishes, and construction methods.
• Monitor and control costs throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with client budgets and commercial objectives.

Interior Design (ID) Cost Management – Office Fit‑Out

• Manage cost planning and control for office interior works, including partitions, ceilings, flooring, wall finishes, joinery, pantry fit‑outs, meeting rooms, and workplace amenities.
• Manage costing for FF&E, loose furniture, audiovisual elements, and specialist office requirements.

Tendering & Procurement

• Prepare tender documentation for office fit‑out trade packages, including ID and CSA works.

Post‑Contract, Change & Commercial Management

Works closely with customers, developers and other stakeholders to understand and define customer needs in these designs. Features are aligned to a timetable and areas of responsibility. Developers may solicit customers for feedback regarding product usability and desired future enhancements. Software Engineers who design, write and test code for the product should be matched in the either Software Engineering Applications or Systems. Product developers who specialize in hardware systems should be matched to Hardware Engineering.

• The primary objective of Design Engineering specialization within Engineering (PD) Job Family is the research, design and development of thoughtful products that solve complex problems through an innovative and thorough approach to product development.

• Performs work in a specialized area of expertise that requires knowledge of fundamental themes, principles and concepts. Typically requires a university degree or equivalent work experience.

Required:

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree.

• Minimum of 2 years of related experience.

• Applies functional knowledge and existing methodologies to solve complex problems or execute specialized projects.

• Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

• Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.

JD:

• Lead and manage all engineering design activities for LNG and oil & gas projects, ensuring designs meet project specifications, codes, and standards.
• Provide technical leadership, review and approve engineering deliverables, and ensure design quality, safety, and constructability.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal disciplines to ensure smooth execution of engineering activities and timely delivery.
• Manage and mentor engineering teams, monitor project progress, resources, and risks to ensure successful project execution.

Requirements:

• B.S. or equivalent degree inengineering from an accredited university with minimum 15 years of relevant experience in LNG & oil/gas projects.
• At least have 5 years of similar management position in major LNG & oil/gas projects.
• An advanced degree in Engineering Management or relevant project management training/experience will be anadvantage.
