Job Summary

You will gather and analyse user requirements to translate them into detailed application specifications. You will design, develop, test, implement, and maintain robust application systems or web-based applications that meet business needs.

Responsibilities

• Analyse user requirements to define clear application specifications that align with business objectives
• Design and develop scalable application systems, including database design, to ensure data integrity and optimal performance
• Implement and maintain web-based applications using relevant frameworks and technologies to deliver reliable and efficient solutions
• Test application systems thoroughly to identify and resolve defects, ensuring high-quality software delivery
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage project timelines and deliverables effectively
• Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and optimise application performance
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Demonstrate experience with frameworks such as Angular/AngularJS, Apache Spark, Hibernate, Java Persistence API (JPA), Node.JS, Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF), PrimeFaces, React, Spring Framework (Spring Batch, Spring Boot, Spring Web), and Struts
• Utilize Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) including Eclipse, JDeveloper, and Netbeans for efficient coding and debugging
• Apply knowledge of application servers such as JBoss Application Server (WildFly) to deploy and manage applications
• Understand architectural concepts and tools including messaging systems (e.g., IBM MQ), responsive web design, rules engines, service-oriented architecture, Weblogic, and Websphere
• Program proficiently in Java, JavaScript, Extensible Markup Language (XML), and HTML to develop dynamic and interactive applications
• Employ asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX), JavaServer Faces (JSF), and web services including REST, SOAP, and Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP) for enhanced application functionality
• Work with operating environments such as Linux, MS SQL, Open System Environment, Unix, Windows, Unix platforms, and AWS to support diverse deployment scenarios
• Manage databases including DB2, Oracle, and MS SQL to ensure data accessibility and integrity

1 year renewable contract

Responsibilities:

Developer:

• Design the solution and develop the software using waterfall/Agile methodology.
• Perform investigation, troubleshoot issues by developing scripts, SQL queries.
• Work closely and collaborate with the Business Analysts and Quality Engineers/application testers for user stories elaboration, test automation, bug fixes etc.
• Work with deployment team/DevOps team on setting up continuous integration, build and release automation.
• Provide estimates for stories during sprint planning for Agile project.
• Convert acceptance criteria into automated unit tests cases.
• Support production issues and duty rotation for after-office-hours support
• Champion Agile technical practices such as test-driven development, pair programming and refactoring
• Involve in application deployment to the various environments.

Tester:

• Understand the requirements from internal and external stakeholders’ groups and work with the development team to define and improve the build system quality.
• Review stories or requirement specs to ensure that requirements stated are correct, unambiguous and verifiable.
• Discuss, analyse and recommend design improvements or corrections to developers throughout the development process.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders and project team to identify needs and requirements for estimation of testing scope and time frame.
• Develop and establish quality assurance deliverables and testing framework, including create and maintain test plans and test cases in accordance with changing requirements, throughout development.
• Create and manage automated test framework whenever possible, such as prepare test environment, maintain functional testing script in accordance with changing requirements.
• Conduct system integration tests with other parties, validate the output and expected outcome e.g. data to and from other parties’ systems and feedback on improvement requirement.
• Conduct extensive manual functional /exploratory testing, including browser testing.
• Conduct performance and load tests, validate the output and expected outcomes and feedback on improvement required.
• Conduct application performance and security testing to ensure we have a robust and secured system in place.
• Conduct impact analysis of defect fixes discovered during manual or automated tests, validate completed stories pass the acceptance criteria, raising defects as needed and work with development team to improve the expected behaviour and test cases.
• Demonstrate the tested stories during Sprint Review and prepare production show case to show the completed stories tested.
• Preferably to have passed the ICT Assessment Certification for Software Developer conducted by NUS-ISS.

Requirements:

• Good understanding and completion of projects using waterfall/Agile methodology.
• Demonstrable skills in Java, Dot Net, Python, Dynamics CRM, SharePoint, Mobile, Cloud or SSIS development
• Demonstrate knowledge of automated software testing methodologies such as unit testing, integration testing, functional testing, test driven development (TDD) and behaviour driven development (BDD).
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues ranging from system resource to application stack traces.
• Hands-on experience in DevOps deployment and data virtualisation tools like Denodo will be preferred.
• Hands-on experience in big data engineering jobs using e.g. Python, Pyspark, Linux or ETL tools like Informatica.
• Strong SQL and data modelling and data analysis skills.
• Good understanding of analytics and data warehouse implementations.
• Demonstrate knowledge of creating packaging / build scripts with Docker etc.
• Track record in implementing systems with high availability, high performance, high security hosted at various data centres or hybrid cloud environments will be an added advantage.
• Relevant software development certifications, e.g. Microsoft Certified Solution Developer for Dynamics or equivalent will be a good to have.
• Certified Software Testing Professional and/or Certified Software Quality Analyst or an equivalent certification will be an added advantage.
