The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and HVAC systems in the world. Facilities Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions. Some of these duties will include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems. You regularly help inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components).

As an advocate for best practices, you develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior level, Linux system administrator to support and maintain enterprise Linux infrastructure environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, availability, security, and performance of Linux servers supporting business-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support enterprise Linux server environments across development, testing, production, and disaster recovery platforms.
• Perform Linux operating system installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
• Monitor system health, availability, and performance, and implement corrective actions to ensure service reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Linux operating system, infrastructure, and application-related issues within agreed service levels.
• Conduct root cause analysis for system incidents and implement preventive measures to minimize recurring issues.
• Support capacity planning, system performance tuning, and infrastructure optimization initiatives.
• Manage Linux services, including file systems, storage, logical volume management (LVM), DNS, NTP, and user access administration.
• Implement and maintain server security controls, system hardening standards, and access management procedures.
• Develop and maintain shell scripts and automation tools to streamline operational processes and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with application, database, network, and infrastructure teams to support project implementation and production releases.
• Participate in change management activities, including impact assessments, implementation planning, and post-change validation.
• Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to ensure business continuity requirements are met.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, operational procedures, and system configuration records.
• Assist with audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements by providing supporting documentation and evidence.
• Provide technical guidance to junior team members and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Linux system administration and infrastructure support within enterprise environments.
• Hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Oracle Linux, or equivalent Linux distributions.
• Strong knowledge of Linux server administration, system troubleshooting, and performance monitoring.
• Experience in Linux patching, operating system upgrades, and production support activities.
• Working knowledge of Linux clustering, high-availability configurations, and disaster recovery concepts.
• Experience with shell scripting (Bash/Korn Shell) and automation of routine administration tasks.
• Good understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, SSH, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of system security, access management, vulnerability remediation, and server hardening practices.
• Familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools and incident management processes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and support critical production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and review validation plans, protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ), and reports for computerized systems.
• Perform risk assessments and impact analysis related to system validation.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines such as FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, and GAMP 5.
• Collaborate with IT, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing teams to support system qualification and validation activities.
• Manage change control and deviation investigations related to validated systems.
• Support audits and inspections by regulatory authorities.
• Maintain validation documentation and ensure traceability throughout the system lifecycle.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5-8 years of experience in CSV within pharmaceutical manufacturing or related regulated industries.
• Strong knowledge of GxP regulations, 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11, and GAMP 5 guidelines.
• Experience with validation of PLC SCADA, MES, or other pharma manufacturing Automation systems.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
