Job Description and Requirements: The Centre for Banking & Finance Law (CBFL) at the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore strives to be at the cutting edge of legal developments in banking and finance by contributing ideas for improving the financial system at the national, regional and global levels. It aims to bring together a vibrant community to generate scholarship, policy recommendations and intellectual exchange about the robustness, soundness and stability of the banking sector, capital markets and other financial services. 

The Centre is inviting applications from suitable candidates to conduct research in the areas of contract law and/or corporate governance, with a focus on how these areas of law can and do promote and protect, or perhaps undermine, the interests of investors unfamiliar with the law. A few examples of suitable contract-related topics would be the role of good faith, the approach to contractual interpretation, the scope to imply terms, and rectification. As regards corporate governance, examples would be an investigation into its effectiveness in promoting stakeholders’ interests, a comparative analysis of different corporate governance models, and boardroom perceptions and attitudes to corporate governance. Applicants are welcome to put forward other topics falling within the broad coverage of contract and corporate governance.

The position offers an opportunity to new graduates wanting to trial an academic career, and practicing lawyers or in-house counsel looking for a change of routine and interested in experiencing academic life.

DUTIES 

1.    Develop and pursue a research agenda, including undertaking research projects on topics related to contract law with a focus on consumer investor protection and/or corporate governance, with a view to publication in suitable journals, edited volumes, reputable blogs or other appropriate online media.  

2.    Present work-in-progress at CBFL research seminars with a view to refining it for publication.

3.    Assist in other CBFL research projects and initiatives, as assigned by the CBFL leadership, including producing working papers and reports, contributing to the substantive content of CBFL publications, assisting with CBFL events, managing manuscripts and undertaking basic editing.

4.    Attend and contribute to CBFL events. 

5.    Successful candidates are expected to be in residence in Singapore throughout the term of your appointment, subject to the standard NUS terms for annual leave. 

REQUIREMENTS

The responsibilities of the position include:

• Designing methods for anomaly detection in irregularly sampled time-series of stellar brightness over time
• Physics-aware generation of time-series data containing transient events
• Coordination with Physics and Computing teams for applications to next-generation astronomical surveys

The role is ideal for someone with a strong computational background combined with an interest in time-domain AI and scientific machine learning. Expertise in astrophysics can be developed during the project.

Qualifications

The Role

We require a full-time teacher to work in the Mathematics Faculty who could potentially teach across the full 11 – 18 age range. In the Sixth Form, the school offers A Level Mathematics, A Level Further Mathematics, and IB Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretations at Higher and Standard levels). • Assist the HOF/AHOF in the setting and marking of school examinations and to supervise entries for external examinations.

• Perform the role of form tutor as required and fulfil the responsibilities of that position.

Job Description

We are seeking one (1) talented postdoctoral researcher to join the Synthetic Biology Translational Research Programme (TRP) at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Synthetic Biology TRP seeks to repurpose biology for positive clinical impact, specifically by developing next generation small molecule deliverables to enhance the resilience of host- or environment-associated microbial communities.

The Research Fellow (RF) will work closely with the Principal Investigator and the research team to characterize and engineer environmental small molecules as drivers of microbial communities. Appointments will be initially made on a 1-year contract, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities:

1. Determine how environmental small molecules affect complex microbial communities in vitro and in vivo;

Qualifications

For the most part, you will support Karsten’s research agenda on macro-financial linkages and historical macroeconomic statistics. This work uses macro and micro data and cutting-edge statistical methods to understand when credit booms endanger financial stability, what the sources of long-run growth are, and how boom-bust cycles can shape the economy of a country for decades. Among other things, you will help to (a) construct novel data sources to measure credit market conditions and historical macroeconomic outcomes, (b) analyse data to understand the role of financial frictions on firm outcomes, and (c) help estimate measures of economic activity ranging back centuries for many countries. 
 
You will work with us on a variety of tasks, including data collection and analysis, statistical programming and data visualization, conducting literature reviews, summarizing research findings and policy documents, and editing research papers. You will have access to resources, including part-time research assistants, and collaborate closely with other members of Professor Müller’s lab. The most important requirement for this position is that you are highly ambitious and eager to learn, and you should ideally bring a proven an interest in economic research. 

The position is based in Singapore. A successful candidate will be able to participate in the academic life at NUS, including the ability to attend research seminars and potentially PhD courses. Qualifications
Ideal candidates will:
(i)    have a strong background in economics, finance, or data science;

A background in economics or finance is a plus but not necessary. I have often worked with computer science or data science students as well. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and self-directed, adept at learning new technical skills when needed.

Purpose of the post

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to coordinate data collection and support research operations under the Growing Up in Singapore Towards healthy Outcomes (GUSTO) birth cohort study.  The Research Assistant/Associate will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigators and study team members to ensure the successful completion of GUSTO projects on time. The RA’s principal role will be to work in general practices such as data collection, data entry and analysis and drafting of publications and reports.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Assistant/Associate will liaise with the relevant personnel to smooth the process of recruitment and data collection and will be accountable to the Principal Investigator(s).

The Research Assistant/Associate will be expected to:

1. Conduct surveys and interviews with children, adolescents, and parents at KK Children’s and Women’s Hospital. 
2. Manage the participant reimbursement schedule.
3. Maintain data security and confidentiality according to PDPA. 
4. Draft ethics approval forms in accordance with IRBs. 
5. Conduct extensive work with data, including organization, cleaning, coding, and analysis. 
6. Train and supervise undergraduate research assistants. 
7. Provide timely updates of the study to PI/Project Manager. 
8. Work flexibly with participants across a range of settings (e.g. hospital, university research lab), and hours (e.g., some weekends and evenings). 
9. Additional research and administrative duties (e.g. preparation of manuscripts for publication, conference presentations, purchases, grant reports).
10. Perform literature review, data analysis and drafting of reports and publications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, or related disciplines 

• Strong background in developmental research and experimental design 

• Good statistical background (e.g. Microsoft Office, SPSS, R) 

• Experiences working with parents and children preferred  

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Job Description

•    Conduct literature review on recent research on resource allocation.
•    Weekly discussions with the supervisor (myself) on formulating important and novel research problems and brainstorming different approaches.

Job Requirements

•    A strong foundation in mathematics, particularly in probability and optimization.

•    The ability in conducting academic research in Operations Research (OR), with skillsets including understanding research papers published in the INFORMS Operations Research and/or Management Science journals, and/or the MSOM journal. Job Description

The Research Assistant/Associate (RA) will be responsible to Dr Shi Jiahai and work with a team of researchers. The research project revolves around applied synthetic biology and focuses on red blood cell biology.

The Research Assistant is expected to:

1. Take part in one or more research projects involving extracellular vesicle isolation, purification, characterization, and engineering, including the optimization of workflows for EV preparation from cell culture or biological samples.
2. Perform experiments related to molecular biology, cell biology, and vesicle research, including sample preparation, nucleic acid/protein analysis, and functional evaluation of EVs.
3. Assist in the development and optimization of EV purification methods, such as differential centrifugation, ultracentrifugation, size-exclusion chromatography, filtration, precipitation-based methods, or affinity-based approaches.
4. Support EV characterization using appropriate analytical methods, which may include particle sizing, concentration measurement, protein and RNA analysis, imaging, and biomarker-based assays.

Qualifications

The applicant should:

1. Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mathematics or biotechnology;
2. Have knowledge and hands-on experience in molecular biology, biotechnology, or biological science;
