Job Description

The Research Assistant will participate in a research project which examines key processes of carbon cycling in blue carbon ecosystems. Bulk of the research will focus on mesocosm experiments in ex situ aquaria.

The Research Assistant will lead and execute mesocosm experiments, laboratory analysis and data curation. Fieldwork in seagrass and mangrove habitats will be required. Specific tasks include:

Job Description

This position involves working on a project related to the coordination of large teams of autonomous robots (e.g., UAVs) in mixed cooperative-competitive environments. The Research Assistant will support the development, simulation, testing, and implementation of collaborative control algorithms for multi-agent robotic systems, under the guidance of the PI and senior researchers. The work will first focus on simulation studies and may later involve hardware experiments with project partners. The role provides an opportunity to work with the PI’s team at the National University of Singapore, as well as industrial, government, and overseas collaborators. Faculty members will be expected to teach existing undergraduate and graduate courses as part of the Civil and Environmental Engineering curriculum, as well as develop new and innovative courses related to climate, energy, and sustainability.

Job Requirements

The candidate should hold a doctorate in Environmental/Energy Engineering and Science, or a closely related discipline, preferably with background and experience in Energy Storage, Decarbonization, and Climate Resilience.

Fuzzing is a powerful technique for finding security vulnerabilities in systems and is used by corporations regularly. In this work, we will study the role of AI in cybersecurity - by aiding fuzzing techniques with large language models.

Tasks

• Conduct Research on AI-Aided Fuzzing: Lead research efforts to explore the integration of large language models (LLMs) with fuzzing techniques for identifying security vulnerabilities in systems. Design experiments and methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness of AI-aided fuzzing in comparison to traditional methods.
• Develop AI Models for Fuzzing Enhancement: Develop and implement AI models, including deep learning architectures, reinforcement learning algorithms, and natural language processing techniques, to enhance fuzzing capabilities. Train these models on relevant datasets to improve their ability to generate meaningful inputs for fuzzing.
• Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Teams: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams comprising cybersecurity experts, AI researchers and software engineers to integrate AI-aided fuzzing techniques into existing cybersecurity frameworks. Communicate findings and insights effectively to team members and stakeholders.
• Publish Research Findings: Document research findings in academic publications, conference papers, and technical reports. Disseminate knowledge gained from the study of AI in cybersecurity, particularly in the context of fuzzing, to the broader research community through presentations and workshops.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree with Honours in a relevant area; and
• Experience in research
