The A*STAR Skin Research Labs is seeking a Scientist with strong expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Biotechnology to lead and support analytical research on the Digital Twin of Skin (DTS) and optical metrology of Asian skin. Skin is a remarkably complex organ, and our approach embraces this richness by decomposing it across multiple spatial and biological scales—nano, micro, and meso. At the nanoscale, this includes molecular and cellular information such as DNA, RNA, proteins, and other biochemical constituents, while higher scales capture tissue structure, optical properties, and functional responses.

The Digital Twin of Skin will integrate rigorous biophysical modeling with state-of-the-art AI methodologies into a unified framework that links mechanisms with data and prediction with interpretation. Importantly, the DTS will be explicitly tailored to address melanin-related challenges in Asian skin, including its influence on optical signatures, light–tissue interactions, and downstream diagnostic and therapeutic accuracy. By embedding melanin-aware modeling across scales, the platform aims to enable more accurate, equitable, and clinically relevant skin analytics.

This work sits at the intersection of physics, biology, and machine intelligence, and offers a rare opportunity to shape how skin health, diagnostics, and interventions are understood and developed for Asian populations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for medical research to oversee the development of a novel non-adherent traumatic wound dressing. The candidate will work with a team of business development managers, regulatory specialists, and manufacturing engineers to prepare the product for commercialization. ADVANCE ID is jointly funded by the Wellcome Trust and Singapore institutions including the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and Yong Loo Lin School ofMedicine, National University of Singapore. The vision of the Network is to improve public health by developing the clinical evidence base for the prevention and treatmentof drug-resistant infections. Its mission is to build and sustain a strategic clinical research network focussed on most efficiently delivering locally relevant interventions for drug-resistant infections.

The Network aims to improve and strengthen clinical research capabilities in the regionby acting as a platform to develop good principles and practices. It will stabilise capacityand capabilities to mitigate inefficiencies in trial start-up phase and loss of skillset following study closure, as in typical trial setup. In the long term, the Network aims to support broader infectious disease studies by expanding geographically beyond its original starting point in South East Asia and collaborating with other networks around the world. Rapid population ageing in Singapore raises important questions about financial resilience and retirement adequacy. This project aims to examine how life-course transitions in employment, health, caregiving, and housing shape income, expenditure, and financial vulnerability in later life. The study will draw on longitudinal datasets, including the Retirement and Health Study and will involve quantitative analysis and policy-relevant modelling to inform retirement and ageing-related policies in Singapore. This is a full-time position based in Singapore.

Duties may include, but are not limited to: (1) providing programming support for research projects; (2) conducting statistical and econometric analyses using longitudinal data; (3) managing large and complex datasets; (4) constructing indicators of retirement adequacy and financial vulnerability; (5) supporting policy modelling; (6) conducting literature reviews; and (7) contributing to scientific manuscripts, reports, and dissemination of findings.

• Completed a BSc in a quantitative discipline (statistics, mathematics, computational biology, data science).

• Statistical competence (Bayesian is advantageous)

Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of Research Assistant in the Department of Computer Science, School of Computing (SoC). SoC is strongly committed to research excellence in all its dimensions: Searching for fundamental results and insights, developing novel computational solutions to a wide range of applications, building large-scale experimental systems and improving the well-being of society. We seek to play an active role both internationally and locally in the core and emerging areas of Computer Science and Information Systems.

The successful candidates will be responsible for working closely with the Principal Investigator and lab members on one or more research projects.
