About the Role

We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our project team for a major building and infrastructure project located on Penang Island.

This is a site-based position. You will play an important role in coordinating construction activities and assisting in the successful delivery of the project in accordance with approved drawings, construction programme, quality requirements, and safety requirements.

This role requires close coordination with the management team, consultants, and subcontractors.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Architecture, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, or other related construction / engineering disciplines.

• Minimum 2 years of working experience in building construction, infrastructure works, M&E works, site coordination, or project engineering.

• Experience in site coordination, subcontractor management, consultant coordination, drawing coordination, or construction progress follow-up.

• Experience in reviewing construction drawings / shop drawings, coordinating site works, preparing or assisting in method statements, and arranging site inspections will be an advantage.

• Familiar with construction processes, construction methods, building materials, site quality requirements, and safety management requirements.

• Candidates with experience in architectural, structural, and M&E coordination will be preferred.

• Able to work independently at site and coordinate effectively with management, consultants, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.

• Good communication skills, strong sense of responsibility, and ability to solve site issues.

• Able to communicate in basic English, prepare reports, and handle project documents.

This is strictly a site-based position, mainly supporting building construction works on Penang Island.

Reporting Structure

The Project Engineer will report to the Lead Engineer with a dotted line to the Project Manager.

Job Description

As a Project Engineer, you will have strong skills in work-plan development and progress tracking. The Project Engineer will schedule, plan, forecast, resource and manage all technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. You must be an outstanding communicator, exceptional leader and even better strategist. You will also prepare and present updates regularly to relevant management channels.

Responsibilities and Duties

•Establish application requirements and liaise with stakeholders for documents preparation and compliance to local authority guidelines and regulations but not limited to the Local Council, DOE, DOSH, CIDB, Bomba, TNB, Safety Officer and others prior work commencement.

•Establish and review engineering drawings, blueprints and specification whilst staying on top of the dynamic design engineering trends and cutting-edge technologies and establish framework with various departments for a seamless collaboration in the biogas environment.

•Coordinate and management of procurement and logistics for construction materials, fabrication items and equipment whilst ensuring their compliance with industry standards.

•Maintain accurate project documentation including progress reports, site diaries, change orders and quality control measures.

•Walk the talk, train the trainer, attend to punch list, conduct inspection and obtain COA signed by the client to mark end of the biogas project milestone for construction and commissioning phase.

•Review engineering deliverables with project team upon project completion and initiate appropriate corrective actions for future project implementation.

Skills and Qualifications Requirements

•A bachelor’s degree in Bio-Tech / Mechanical engineering from an accredited university or college.

•3 years of experience as a Project Engineer with excellent project management and supervision skills.

•Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project and Auto-Cad is a must.

•Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards and best practices is preferred.

•Ability to travel extensively with good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia is preferred.

·        Assist Key Personnel (KP) and relevant staff in conducting fact-finding investigations related to student incidents, including gathering statements and corroborating information.

·        Maintain accurate and timely documentation of incidents, interventions, and follow-up actions.

·        Manage student management records and databases, including data extraction, case tracking, trend analysis, and reporting to support informed decision-making.

·        Monitor students with recurring behavioural concerns and provide updates to relevant stakeholders.

·        Liaise with parents and guardians on minor behavioural matters where appropriate, providing updates and reinforcing school expectations and support measures.

·        Support the implementation of restorative and developmental approaches to student behaviour management.

2.       Provide Operational Relief and Support for Key Personnel

The Coordinator serves as a flexible resource to ensure continuity of student management operations during urgent situations.

Key responsibilities include:

·        Provide coverage for members of the Key Personnel (KP) and CMT teams when they are engaged in urgent student matters, crisis management, meetings, or external commitments.

·        Respond promptly to student-related incidents requiring immediate attention and support.

·        Assist in coordinating interventions, student supervision, and follow-up actions during periods of high demand.

·        Support school-wide student management initiatives and events as required.

3.       Coordinate and Facilitate After-School Programmes for High-Needs Students

The Coordinator supports the holistic development of students who require additional behavioural, social-emotional, or academic support through structured after-school engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

·        Plan, coordinate, and facilitate after-school programmes targeted at students identified as requiring additional support.

·        Develop activities that promote positive behaviour, resilience, social skills, self-management, and student engagement.

·        Monitor student attendance, participation, and progress within the programmes.

·        Build positive relationships with students to strengthen their connection to school and enhance their overall well-being.

·        Work collaboratively with teachers and relevant staff to identify students who may benefit from additional intervention and support.

4.       Collaborate with the School Counsellor on Student Support Programmes

The Coordinator works closely with the School Counsellor to design and implement interventions that address students' behavioural, emotional, and social development needs.

Key responsibilities include:

·        Partner with the School Counsellor in planning, organising, and delivering after-school intervention and support programmes.

·        Support the implementation of social-emotional learning, behavioural intervention, and resilience-building activities.

·        Assist in identifying students who may require additional counselling support or targeted interventions.

·        Monitor programme effectiveness and provide feedback to improve future initiatives.

·        Contribute to a coordinated multi-disciplinary approach involving teachers, counsellors, school leaders, and parents to support student growth and development.
