Controllership plays an integral part of Visa’s operations in Asia, and AP Hub. Controllership is accountable for: 1) ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting for activities across the markets 2) establishing and monitoring internal controls, partnering with the business stakeholders to ensure the controls environment continues to stay strong and effective, 3) management of the Controllership Operations function.

Controllership plays an integral part of Visa’s operations to oversee the control environment.  This role ensures the risk, anti-bribery and financial elements are reflective of the transactions and activities undertaken by the Business and these adhere to Visa’s policies and procedures.  Additionally, ensure business stakeholders are provided the appropriate support and guidance. 

This position reports directly to the Director of INSA (India and South Asia) Country Controller.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for strengthening and maintaining internal controls and the control environment to support the business.
• Ensure that robust controls are implemented and adhered to in line with local regulations as applicable, Company’s policies, procedures and guidelines and best practices.
• Be the “go to” subject matter expert on Finance policies and procedures.
• Partner with other controllership functions such as Revenue Operations, Client Incentives, Controllership Operations to implement and maintain business procedures with robust controls in place.
• Contributes to the integrity and control of the financial books and records as well as the process by which these records are generated.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, Sales, Sales excellence, Products, Marketing, Client Services, etc regionally to drive process excellence and standardization.
• Use information and data to communicate, spot anomalies, perform controls testing and communicate recommendations for decision making.
• Identify systems and tools that can achieve automation outcomes positively.
• Embed a Lean Six Sigma culture of continuous process improvement to drive efficiency and future scalability with excellent customer service levels.
• Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective action of exceptions identified by key controls stakeholders.

Position Overview:

• As part of the Group Finance Transformation department, the Head of Applications – Finance plays a pivotal role in ensuring the stability, performance, and evolution of Finance applications across the Group.
• This role supports operational efficiency and strategic transformation of Finance by leveraging technology on a scale.
• The incumbent will lead a central team in charge of the administration, support, and continuous improvement of the Finance applications landscape.
• This includes core and extended tools such as EPM, Expense Management, P2P solutions, and other key systems.
• The incumbent will act as a bridge between Finance, IT, and business functions, and serve as a key point of contact for strategic projects involving Finance applications and data.

In this role, the incumbent will:

• Ensure robust governance and oversight of Finance applications, defining standards and best practices for system administration and usage across entities.
• Drive the harmonization of application management practices with the ambition to reach best-in-class performance in support, user experience, and operational reliability including JIRA tool.
• Lead initiatives in continuous improvement, acting in project mode to evolve tools and processes in line with Finance’s transformation roadmap.
• Be the primary liaison for Finance application-related projects, including system upgrades, rollouts, integrations, and enhancements.
• Act as a key stakeholder on data-related topics, ensuring data consistency, availability, and alignment with reporting and analytics needs.
• You will report to the Central Finance Director of Projects & Applications, and will work closely with senior Finance stakeholders, Group IT, and external partners to shape and execute the vision for Finance technology across the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Applications Management & Operations

• Lead the central administration team for Finance applications (core and non-core systems).
• Oversee daily operations to ensure system availability, performance, and service continuity.
• Coordinate with IT and external providers for maintenance, upgrades, and incident resolution.

2. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Alignment

• Serve as the primary interface between Finance and other departments on application-related topics.
• Ensure system functionalities align with Finance process needs and business requirements.
• Promote data consistency, integration, and system harmonization across entities.

3. Performance & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor user satisfaction and gather feedback to drive enhancements.
• Lead system optimization and automation initiatives are in line with the broader transformation roadmap.
• Identify and address operational pain points through technology-driven solutions.

4. Testing Strategy & Execution

• Design, lead, and supervise testing campaigns (unit testing, integration testing, UAT) during system updates, system improvement or new deployments.
• Ensure test plans are properly documented, executed, and traceable.
• Coordinate with users, IT, and support teams to validate functionality and performance.
• Ensure testing activities are aligned with risk management and quality assurance standards.

5. KPI Tracking & Reporting

• Define, implement, and maintain performance dashboards and KPIs.
• Track quality of service, incident resolution times, system reliability, and project delivery status.
• Provide regular updates to leadership and support decision-making with data insights.

Must have:

• Experience: 8–13 years in Finance systems (Basware, Board, Kyriba, HFM is a plus) management, ERP administration, or Finance/IT transformation.
  • Familiarity with Finance processes such as accounting, controlling, and reporting.
• Technical Acumen: Solid understanding of Finance systems architecture, data flows, and user needs.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort with reporting tools and performance monitoring dashboards.
• Service Orientation: Strong focus on operational excellence and user satisfaction.
• Mindset: Structured, responsive, and able to balance reliability with transformation initiatives.
• Leadership: Proven ability to manage cross-functional and international teams in a complex, matrixed environment.

§ To perform GL Accounting & Management Reporting Daily, Monthly and Quarterly Activities which would include preparation of journal entries, bank reconciliations, monthly as well as quarterly management and sec reporting as per defined quality standards. Also own the review responsibility and ensure that all the activities are reviewed before submission to the client

Key Accountabilities:

1) Ensure preparation of different types of standard as well as adhoc journal entries received from the customer as per defined quality parameters.

2) Clearance of Suspense Open Items & follow up with various groups for resolution

3) Preparation / Review of Bank Reconciliations

4) Fixed Assets Accounting & Reconciliation

5) Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations

6) Preparation / Review of Monthly / Quarterly Reporting and Balance Sheet Analysis

7) Adherence to defined Quality Standards across the processes

8) Ability to get into the detail, acquire business knowledge and drive process improvements

9) Put in controls i.e. Review Mechanism in place and ensure internal review to detect any error

10) Manage his own deliverables vis-à-vis team deliverables and ensure that all the SLA’s are met

ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE

· 5 - 7 yrs- in finance & accounting function with very good communication skills

Knowledge/Qualifications/ Competency:

· Commerce Graduate

· Knowledge of MS office in particular Excel and Power point
