Role Overview

We are partnering with our client to hire an experienced Support Engineer to ensure the stability, performance, and availability of critical applications across production and non-production environments.

This role focuses on end-to-end application support, incident management, and operational reliability, supporting both legacy systems and a modern cloud transformation landscape.

Employment Type: 1-Year Contract

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor system performance to ensure optimal application operations and stability
• Manage and resolve incidents, problems, and service requests within SLA timelines
• Provide L1, L2, and L3 application support across business-critical systems
• Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, and resolution of technical issues
• Conduct root cause analysis and contribute to problem management activities
• Carry out system maintenance activities and minor enhancements where required
• Ensure high system availability, reliability, and operational uptime
• Communicate incident status, risks, and progress updates to stakeholders clearly and timely
• Develop, maintain, and improve operational procedures and support documentation
• Ensure adherence to IT governance, security, and audit requirements
• Maintain accurate logs, reports, and operational records

Technology Landscape

You will be supporting systems within a transformation environment:

• Current Environment: Sybase databases, Java-based applications
• Target Environment: Microsoft Azure (GCC), Azure SQL, .NET-based applications

This role provides exposure to both legacy operations and modern cloud-based application support.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in application support or IT operations engineering
• Strong incident management and troubleshooting capabilities
• Good understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably Microsoft Azure)
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work in fast-paced production support environments

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting enterprise-scale or government systems
• Exposure to 24/7 operational or shift-based support environments
• Experience working with monitoring, logging, or alerting tools
• Experience managing vendors or third-party support teams

Key Responsibilities

User & Citizen Insights

• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to understand the needs, behaviours, and pain points of citizens, businesses, and public officers
• Apply both generative and evaluative research methods to define problem spaces and validate solutions
• Plan and execute research activities including user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and A/B testing

Data Analysis & Communication

• Design intuitive map interactions, dashboards, and data discovery experiences
• Develop service blueprints and user journeys to improve usability and adoption of geospatial solutions
• Collaborate with product, GIS, and engineering teams to prototype, test, and iterate interfaces
• Ensure solutions meet standards for accessibility, inclusivity, and effective data storytelling

Requirements

This role focuses on ensuring system stability, managing incidents, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and high-performing applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain production applications to ensure system availability, performance, and stability.

• Manage incidents end-to-end, including investigation, troubleshooting, resolution, and proper documentation, while minimising operational impact.

• Conduct root cause analysis for recurring or high-impact issues and implement corrective and preventive measures.

• Collaborate closely with development, QA, and infrastructure teams to diagnose and resolve application-related issues.

• Analyse system performance metrics and recommend optimisation and tuning improvements where required.

• Support application deployments, patches, and release activities to ensure smooth implementation into production environments.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation covering support processes, system configurations, and knowledge base updates.

• Provide timely and professional support to internal users and stakeholders.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including automation and enhancement of support processes.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in application support and/or software development within enterprise environments is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with technologies such as Python, SQL, Unix/Linux, Java, AWS, monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog), CI/CD pipelines, and Git.
• Familiarity with SDLC frameworks and Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex technical issues.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
