The incumbent is a member of Bridgestone’s Legal and Compliance Team based in the Regional Head Office, Singapore. In this role, s/he will be responsible for managing a variety of legal, compliance and risk related support across APAC geographies as designated.
S/he should have a broad foundation of corporate commercial experience in contract review, legal advisory, legal support for day-to-day operations and compliance initiatives.
This role would require the incumbent to have a solutions-oriented, accountable and ethical mindset.
Key Deliverables:
• Act as lead counsel, trusted advisor and strategic business partner
• Draft, review, and manage negotiation of commercial agreements, including procurement, original equipment manufacturers (OEM), distributorship and dealer agreements, ensuring all legal obligations are met and risks are mitigated
• Liaise with external parties including managing external counsel and contract negotiations with customers, channel partners and vendors
• Develop and train internal stakeholders in their review of commercial contracts
• Provide legal guidance and support to internal stakeholders in the areas of procurement, logistics and supply chain, brand marketing, labour & employment, information and technology, debt collection, dispute resolution, intellectual property, corporate communications, corporate governance and strategic transactions
• Provide support on all compliance and risk matters and activities, including collaborating with the compliance team to carry out investigations, and to implement initiatives, policies and procedures to promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct in the areas of antibribery, antitrust, sanctions and data privacy
• Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory issues
• Partner with stakeholders at all levels of the organization across geographies and regions
Job Requirements
• Degree in Law (LL.B) or its equivalent
• Professional legal qualification (e.g. Bar Admission, Solicitor’s qualification) or its equivalent
• 7 to 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience within a law firm and corporate in-house legal department (MNC preferred)
• Ability to handle multiple ad-hoc priorities, assignments with a sense of urgency to accomplish objectives in time frames necessary to support business objectives
• Experience in the management and negotiation of commercial contracts and transactions
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels across regions.
• Ability to present ideas and concepts, in an easy-to-understand and concise manner, and appropriately tailored for varying audience
• Demonstrated counseling and decision-making skills with the penchant in appreciating the overview of business strategy and operational needs in the preparation of legal advice
• Practical hands-on experience with a strong collaborative and receptive approach to teamwork and providing resolutions
• Excellent communication skills and proficiency in any South-East Asian language is an advantage
• MS Office proficiency and savviness in technology tools
