Job description
- Lead and manage the technical and commercial delivery of electrical design packages across rail infrastructure projects with a focus on high voltage (HV) substation, traction power and LV design.
- Develop concept and detailed designs, key elements of design deliverables including technical reports, electrical calculations and design specifications
- Review CAD drawings and ensure thorough documentation of all design work.
- Mentor and oversee the work of junior engineers and CAD technicians.
- Act as Lead Engineer/CRE, Checker on projects, ensuring all outputs are delivered on time, to budget and to client expectations.
- Ensure accuracy in drawings and calculations, designs comply with all relevant regulations, including CDM and Health & Safety legislation
- Provide technical and commercial oversight, including design planning, risk management and quality assurance
- Play a key role in developing our HV substation and LV design capability as part of the Electrification & Power (E&P) team
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and constructible design solutions
- Familiarity with the full project lifecycle – from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction support
- Demonstrated ability to manage design packages independently and contribute to project planning and execution.
