Job Description Summary:

Futures & Derivatives Clearing (FDC) Markets Operations supports the firm’s client trading & clearing across a broad range of listed derivatives, futures, OTC & FX PB products. The FDC group sits within the Equities and Prime business and is part of Citigroup Markets.

The role; to lead the Asia FDC Operations Client Services team and be a part of the regional and global senior management team.  The individual is expected to interact with multiple Business units across FDC, Equities & Prime as well as various support teams such as legal, compliance, risk and of course our peers across FDC and Markets operations.

The individual will be part of the regional and global senior management team and report directly to the Head of Asia FDC Operations.
 

The individual is expected to be commercial in mindset when assessing servicing requirements and subsequent operating costs. Will be expected to review new clients to be onboarded, work with the integration and onboarding teams to clearly assess client requirements, challenge manual processes and sub-optimal solutions. Have the ability and experience to understand front-to-back trade and clearing flows, provide solutions and help drive client delivery.

The individual and team will be responsible for driving client solutions and participating in local, regional & global initiatives. Be required to measure productivity and service via proactive monitoring and metrics, as well as running regular platinum client broker reviews. Build strong client relationships through regular client interaction, face-to-face, verbal and written. Support and understand our global client base, their requirements and potential growth and opportunities.  

The individual will support the Head of Asia FDC Operations and respective team leaders across Asia as well as partnering with the global functional client services lead and peers, sharing best practices and increasing standardization. Continuous focus on assessing the teams’ processes to eliminate manual touch points and increase productivity.

As a manager of others, lead a team of 8 direct reports and several matrix reports. The role requires the individual to be able to lead and develop a high-performing team, through coaching and regular timely feedback.
The role will involve running bi-annual performance reviews and will require the individual to be self-disciplined by facilitating regular 1 to 1 engagement and team meetings. Be responsible for hiring, cross training and team coverage.

A key function of the role will also be focused on managing risk and associated controls within the Asia FDC Operations Client Service function.

Role Overview/What will you do:

• Manage and inspire a high-quality team of engineers
• The successful candidate will work with teams across FX Technology to define and then implement solutions that benefit the business
• The role is hands on - includes both technical implementation and thought leadership.
• The role does not involve budget responsibility
• The successful candidate will work with teams across FX Technology to define and then implement solutions that benefit multiple asset classes
• Manage/develop teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions) as well as ensure team adheres to best practices and process Develop vision for team around roles and responsibilities, and structure team to ensure greatest impact, efficient use of resource, and alignment to business structures
• Drive the design and development of system architecture, work with end-users of the systems, and enhance the quality of deliverables Ensure staff follows Citi documented policy and procedures as well as maintain desktop procedures and supporting documentation for filings on a current basis and in comprehensive manner
• Lead and deliver local staff forums, present global, regional, and location news and updates to engage team in the progress of organization
• Contribute to defining and implementing best practices and processes for the department and ensure transparency and consistency across teams

Key Skills and Experience required

• Proven understanding of ultra low-latency development practices
• Proven understanding of FX highly preferred
• Ability to develop a team that is seen as the engineering role model for the organization
• Ability to work directly with Sales, Trading and Product teams
• Proven track record of building new systems, replacing legacy systems and renovating existing systems
• The candidate will have a strong systems (software, hardware, networks) knowledge required to define solutions and trouble shoot issues
• Exceptional communicator who loves working with people, confident communicating at all levels from an individual team to the entire enterprise
• Highly credible hands on engineer, confident to deep dive into a product and codebase and offer detailed, constructive analysis and feedback
• Awareness of industry trends and leveraging new technologies as appropriate
• Experience in collaborating and influencing cross-functional teams
