The Opportunity:

Acts in an actuarial capacity, performing duties which are of a mathematical and/or financial nature in order to provide highly accurate data and analyses for use by Actuaries in the evaluation of loss reserves. Key Responsibilities:

• Support in evaluating insurance technical liabilities on a quarterly basis for management and regulatory reporting as well as formal submission of actuarial investigation report and actuarial-focused returns for financial year-ends. • Contribute to performance monitoring meetings in understanding of results, providing insights on trends & developments and communicate key uncertainties & issues.
• Support in assessing the company’s financial condition (i.e. solvency assessment, annual ORSA & IWST process), and under such economic & business conditions as regulator may specify.
• Proactively identify professional development and inculcate a sense of team spirit, teamwork and inter-team collaboration.
• Support Finance, Underwriting, Pricing, Claims, Risk and other functions on reserving, business initiative & projects and strategic business decisions as relevant.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

• A bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field is usually required.
• Professional qualifications such as the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) or Society of Actuaries (SOA) or Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) can also be beneficial in advancing your career as a Valuation Actuarial Support Analyst.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as proficiency in statistical analysis software such as Excel including VBA, RStudio,and Power BI.
• Good communication skills are important to explain complex actuarial concepts to non-actuarial stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Life and Health Central Life Reserving team in Singapore. The team oversees the valuation, reserving and financial reporting for Life and Health business of Munich Re Singapore branch, covering both global and local valuation bases including Solvency II, HGB, MAS and IFRS (9 and 17).

Reporting to the Head of MRS Valuation, you will combine accounting, actuarial science, modelling, and regulatory expertise to ensure sufficiency of reserves and insightful financial reporting to the senior management at Munich Re.

Your Role

You will be involved across the full valuation and reporting cycle, including:

• Proposing model enhancements and setting valuation assumptions for the Singapore business
• Modelling new treaties in AXIS
• Preparing quarterly and annual Solvency II reporting for Singapore
• Delivering quarterly and annual IFRS reporting (Group and local)
• Producing management reports for the local leadership team
• Supporting annual financial planning for the Singapore business
• Partnering closely with the local business teams to support commercial and reporting needs

Your Profile

About the Role

The Analyst position is ideal for those with experience in scientific research and for enthusiastic recent graduates in the sciences who are seeking the opportunity to be part of a growing team. You will be based in our Singapore office working in our Asia-Pacific team, as well as collaborating with colleagues from our UK and US teams.

Our Medical Writers and Analysts work on projects involving the detailed analysis of data from clinical trials and the assimilation and creative presentation of this analysis in different formats including posters, slide sets, value dossiers, reports and peer-reviewed publications. • Market Access: Market access supports timely patient access to drugs and devices, involving the assessment of clinical efficacy and safety alongside costs to determine the value of a therapy within a specific disease area. • Contributing to strategic projects to support clients with their evidence generation strategies

You will work in project teams alongside colleagues from all specialities to ensure that evidence development projects are completed to an exceptionally high standard, on time and in line with client expectations. This role will include a range of work with varying levels of technical requirements. You will receive one-to-one training in the technical aspects of the role, including project management and effective client communication. Delivering project work requires close collaboration with clients, and following a successful induction period you will increasingly participate in teleconferences and face-to-face meetings with external stakeholders.

Requirements

We are looking for individuals who are collaborative, self-motivated and enthusiastic, with a passion for scientific writing and an interest in providing a great service to clients. Positions are available for those looking for an entry-level role in the field as well as those with some prior experience.

Essential requirements for the role are:

• An undergraduate degree or higher qualification in a scientific discipline (minimum CAP or GPA 4/5 or equivalent). We welcome applications from candidates with a diverse range of specialisms, including but not limited to; biology, chemistry, pharmacy, medicine, public health and statistics
• An interest in epidemiology or biostatistics, including experience using R for data analysis
• Experience in planning and writing scientific documents, analysing data, and communicating results
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to adapt your writing style for different audiences
• Being highly organised, able to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively
• Being self-motivated, enthusiastic, and eager to learn
• A proactive mindset, including the ability to recognise challenges and suggest solutions with limited guidance
• A collaborative and team-oriented mindset, with a willingness to contribute beyond your core responsibilities
• Being reflective and accountable, with a commitment to your personal and professional development

Desired requirements for the role are:

• Experience with real-world data (RWD) collection, interpretation, and analysis
