Cloud Engineer

Job Summary;
We are seeking a Cloud Engineer with strong expertise in Terraform and AWS to design, implement, and manage infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions for cloud-based systems. This role will act as the subject matter expert for Terraform on AWS, collaborating with application, security, internal stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure a secure, reliable, and high-performing cloud environment within MAS. The ideal candidate brings deep Terraform expertise, strong knowledge of AWS services, and a proven ability to architect and manage large-scale cloud infrastructure through code.

Key Responsibilities:

a. Design, develop, and maintain reusable, scalable Terraform modules and configurations for AWS infrastructure, aligned with best practices.
b. Collaborate with application, security, and internal teams to translate business requirements into robust Terraform-driven infrastructure solutions.
c. Implement and manage AWS Landing Zones using Terraform, ensuring secure, standardised, and compliant multi-account environments.
d. Continuously optimise cloud infrastructure through advanced Terraform automation to enhance availability, performance, and cost efficiency.
e. Define and maintain Terraform state management strategies, including remote backends, state locking, and disaster recovery processes.
f. Embed security controls and compliance requirements within Terraform code, adhering to AWS security best practices and regulatory standards.
g. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, coding standards, and reusable infrastructure modules.
h. Provide technical leadership, including mentorship, code reviews, and guidance on Terraform best practices and design patterns.
i. Troubleshoot complex Terraform deployments and AWS infrastructure issues, implementing long-term fixes to prevent recurrence.
j. Stay up to date with Terraform advancements, AWS service updates, and emerging IaC trends.

What We Are Looking For:

k. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
l. Minimum 6+ years of hands-on experience with Terraform, including advanced capabilities such as modules, workspaces, providers, and state management.
m. Deep expertise in AWS services and architecture, including EC2, VPC, IAM,S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, and AWS Organizations.
n. Proven experience implementing AWS Landing Zones and multi-account architectures using Terraform.
o. Strong proficiency in scripting languages, particularly Python and Bash, for automation and Terraform integration.
p. Solid understanding of AWS security services, compliance frameworks, and infrastructure security best practices.
q. Experience with CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment using tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or AWS Code Pipeline.
r. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex infrastructure issues and optimise Terraform performance.

• Experience with software design and development
• Able to analyze user requirements to inform application design
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on software development experience in Python.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Agile, fast learner and able to adapt to changes.
• Experience in TypeScript, React, C#, MSSQL.

Key Technical Skills / Experience

· Semiconductor‑related experience, particularly in front‑end processes, is preferred.

Summary:

• Require a highly skilled engineer with extensive experience in GitHub, JFrog, Terraform, and Cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure.
• He/she is expected to support the team in operational activities, including but not limited to platform support and maintenance, as well as development work related to these technologies.

Skillset Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of strong DevOps experience with strong experience in CI/CD pipeline and artifactory management.
• Proficiency with CI/CD workflows such as GitHub Action, Jenkins.
• Proficiency with artifact repository management systems such as JFrog, Nexus.
• Strong Linux administration skills and Shell scripting expertise.
• Experience with software engineering with in at least one of these programming languages: JavaScript, Java, Python, or .NET
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, Helm (Relevant certifications are a plus).

• Design, develop, and maintain the central automation platform supporting hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, on-prem).
• Build reusable automation frameworks, modules, and APIs that other teams can leverage to design their own automation workflows.
• Define and enforce automation standards, governance models, and best practices across the enterprise.
• Provide enablement and onboarding support for infrastructure, and application teams adopting the automation platform.
• Develop documentation, templates, and reference architectures to accelerate automation adoption across teams.
• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible to ensure consistent, auditable, and secure provisioning.
• Develop orchestration workflows integrating with infrastructure components (Windows, Linux, DNS, AD, vCenter, Databases, etc.) via SDKs and APIs.
• Automate operational tasks, runbooks, and incident response workflows to reduce Mean Time to Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time to Resolve (MTTR).
• Build self-healing and auto-remediation capabilities using event-driven automation frameworks
• Deep understanding of SRE principles, service health modelling, error budgets, and auto-remediation design.

Responsibilities:

     Observability Engineering and Governance

• Architect and maintain enterprise SIEM solutions aligned with operational resilience mandates (e.g., MAS TRM, DORA, APRA CPS 230).
• Lead deployment, configuration, and optimization of Splunk for full-stack visibility across infrastructure, applications, networks, and user experience.
• Define and enforce telemetry data governance standards—metrics, logs, and traces—ensuring consistency, retention compliance, and security.
• Integrate Splunk with incident management, ITSM, and AIOps systems to enable predictive alerting and anomaly detection.
• Act as the SIEM/Splunk subject matter expert (SME) for architecture reviews, platform upgrades, and performance tuning.

Reliability Engineering and Automation

• Implement and champion SRE frameworks and reliability practices for mission-critical systems.
• Design and automate runbooks, alerts, and self-healing workflows using Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
• Collaborate with Application, Infrastructure, and Cyber teams to embed reliability principles into the delivery lifecycle.
• Conduct resilience, chaos, and capacity testing aligned with business continuity and disaster recovery standards.
• Define and track error budgets, reliability scorecards, and service health indicators for production workloads.

Cloud & Platform Integration

• Engineer SIEM for cloud-native workloads in AWS and Azure, ensuring visibility across compute, storage, and network layers.
• Integrate Splunk and cloud observability tools into CI/CD pipelines and landing zones to ensure continuous compliance.
• Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) models using Terraform and Ansible for consistent, auditable provisioning.
• Collaborate with Cloud, DevOps, and Security teams to ensure telemetry aligns with audit, compliance, and operational risk requirements.

Operational Excellence and Collaboration

• Drive reduction in incident recurrence, MTTR, and manual intervention through observability-led automation.
• Partner with Service Delivery, Cyber, and Application teams to enable predictive incident prevention and root cause transparency.
• Develop and maintain executive dashboards and reports showcasing availability, reliability KPIs, and operational risk indicators.
• Provide technical leadership during major incidents, post-incident reviews, and audits, ensuring lessons learned are codified into automation and process improvements.
