Job Summary
You will maintain mechanical equipment and facilities to support manufacturing in a safe environment, perform planned and unplanned maintenance, assist contractor oversight, and participate in technical and safety activities.
Responsibilities
- Maintain mechanical equipment and facilities to ensure safe and sanitary manufacturing operations
- Complete planned and unplanned mechanical maintenance and repairs on pumps, tanks, piping, valves, and related equipment
- Monitor and coordinate work performed by outside contractors to ensure compliance and quality
- Diagnose faults and repair plant systems and equipment to minimize downtime
- Participate in risk assessments as part of Permit to Work preparation to ensure safety compliance
- Interpret technical drawings and prepare detailed reports on maintenance and repair work completed
- Perform minor piping fabrication and modifications to support plant operations
- Maintain machine shop tools and equipment, including welding sets, tooling, and lifting gear, to ensure readiness
- Support equipment inspections with vendor representatives on tanks, columns, pipelines, and centrifuges
- Rebuild valves, pumps, gearboxes, and drives to restore equipment functionality
- Conduct predictive maintenance activities such as vibration monitoring and infra-red thermography to prevent failures
- Complete all required in-house training promptly to maintain skills and compliance
- Adhere to and comply with Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) rules to maintain a safe workplace
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure proper implementation of maintenance works and services
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Possess at least a NITEC in Mechanical Engineering, Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, or equivalent
- Class 3 driving license is an advantage but not essential
- Ability to work 44 hours per week
- Experience in equipment maintenance within water, wastewater treatment, or chemical process industries is highly preferred
