Lecturer (BA (Hons) Music Business)

The programme is designed to develop commercially focused, analytically rigorous and entrepreneurial graduates equipped to operate within the local, regional and global music economies. Reporting to the Programme Leader (BA (Hons) Music Business), your key responsibilities include designing and preparing lectures and seminars, teaching and delivering research-informed and industry-relevant content to ensure that students’ learning objectives are met.You will work collaboratively across the programme and faculty to strengthen curriculum design, align academic standards with industry expectations and support the programme’s growth and strategic positioning.

You should have teaching and/or professional experience in music business, entrepreneurship, cultural economics or related disciplines. You will be expected to teach modules that bridge academic frameworks with applied business practice, including market analysis, strategic planning, venture development and performance evaluation. This includes guiding students in using industry tools such as audience analytics, revenue forecasting, intellectual property strategy and digital market positioning.

Your profile should demonstrate a strong research background, with an active portfolio aligned to business-oriented inquiry within the music or creative industries. This may include areas such as market strategy, digital ecosystems, cultural economics, audience development or entrepreneurship. Familiarity with MBA-level frameworks, such as market analysis and business strategy, innovation management and organisational performance, would be an advantage.

Industry experience in the music sector, particularly in business development, artist management, rights management, data analytics or commercial strategy, will be an asset.

You should be committed to developing graduates who are capable of operating at the intersection of art and commerce, analysing complex market environments, formulating strategic responses and contributing meaningfully to the evolution of the music industry.

Requirements

• Postgraduate qualification, preferably at PhD level, in a relevant field such as music business, business administration, cultural economics, entrepreneurship or related disciplines.

• At least five years of tertiary-level teaching experience in a relevant subject area and at least four years of full-time industry experience in the music industry, creative industries, or broader business sectors (e.g.consulting, strategy, digital platforms or entrepreneurship).

• Demonstrated ability to teach and supervise business-oriented academic work, including research methodologies, market analysis, strategic planning and dissertation or capstone projects with applied industry focus.

Centre for Lifelong Learning and Individualised Cognition CLIC is a research collaboration between the University of Cambridge and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and hosted by the Cambridge Centre for Advanced Research and Education in Singapore (CARES) that aims to develop neuroscience-based interventions for lifelong flexible learning. Launched in October 2020 and funded by the National Research Foundation Singapore, CLIC brings together a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, neuroscientists, linguists and educators who conduct innovative research in the science of learning.

The world of today is constantly evolving to keep pace with advances in technology and globalisation, requiring individuals to adapt and develop new skills to ensure resilience through a culture of lifelong flexible learning. Mental flexibility is required in order to adapt to change, problem-solve creatively in new situations and make the most of opportunities including emerging career opportunities. The capacity for cognitive flexibility is thus central to the modern digital age and our education system needs innovation to ensure citizens are equipped to develop these future skills. For example, major global challenges, including climate change, renewable energy, and food security, will require novel and creative approaches and solutions.

CLIC researchers are developing a neuroscience-based model of flexible learning, including important social contextual factors, in order to inform the design of practical, real-life interventions for use in schools and the workplace. This will ensure that individuals are not only prepared for future career success, but also have a good quality of life and wellbeing, thus supporting a flourishing society.

The CLIC program is seeking one full-time Research Associate (with potential opportunities for reappointment). The research associate will support research activities focusing on cognitive flexibility and learning, and training-related brain changes among adults and adolescents. Given the highly inter-disciplinary nature of the project, the research assistant will be expected to take on opportunities for involvement in research activities related to human neuroimaging, language, infant cognition/learning and pedagogy.

Job Description

The Department of Architecture at NUS invites applications for multiple research positions within an interdisciplinary research project about urban ecosystem services. Successful candidates will join a dynamic and collaborative team engaged in large-scale, externally funded projects addressing pressing urban challenges in Singapore and globally. The positions offer a supportive research environment, competitive remuneration, and access to state-of-the-art facilities.

The research fellow is expected to join at the end of 2026. The position is a one-year appointment and might be renewed up to 3 years based on the performance and career plan of the hired person.

Responsibilities
•    Simulate and evaluate urban biodiversity
•    Conduct field surveys and model calibration
•    Quantify landscape maintenance regimes
•    Contribute to design guidelines and project coordination

Qualifications

•    PhD in Urban Ecology, Landscape Architecture, or related field
•    Experience in biodiversity surveys and ecological modelling
•    Strong analytical and visualization skills
•    Ability to integrate ecological insights into design strategies
