The Natural Sciences and Science Education(NSSE) Department at the NIE in Singapore is seeking an Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in Design& Technology (D&T) education (and its related fields) to join its NSSE Department. The Natural Sciences and Science Education (NSSE) at the National Institute of Education in Singapore is committed to discovery and innovation in sciences and science education. Comprising faculty from both science content and pedagogical disciplines, we adopt an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and research. Our science education researchers focus mainly on maximising the potential of every child through research on students' learning approaches and problem-solving skills, and work with teachers to develop models of creative teaching and new approaches to learning. Faculty members receive research support through internal and external grants, as well as access to world-class research facilities.

Requirements

Successful candidates must have:

·      A Bachelor degree in Science/Arts/Engineering and a doctoral degree (PhD) in education (specialising in D&T e.g., product design, mechanical, or related)

·      Published in top-tier, peer-reviewed international education journals, and be able to teach in English

·      Teaching qualifications, and it is desirable to have taught at secondary level for at least 5 years and have leadership experience in school

·      Post-doctoral research experience, prior experience in conducting professional development courses for teachers, and conducting research in multilingual and multicultural environments are desirable

·      Received competitive research grants to support their scholarly work

·      In addition, Associate Professors should have: (a) sustained, independent, and international academic reputation; (b) published in high-impact venues; (c) secured major research grants; and (d) received teaching awards.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

·       Design, teach and grade a range of pre-service and in-service courses in D&T Education, and graduate-level courses in D&T Education.

·       Supervise undergraduate and pre-service students in teaching practicum attachments and projects

·       Supervise Master’s and Doctoral students and perform examination duties for graduate students’ theses/dissertation, seminar, and oral examinations

·       Serve on committees in the Department, NIE and NTU and offer consultancy and professional services to schools, the Ministry of Education and other public education-related organisations on a request basis

·       Develop research programmes aligned to their areas of specialisation and publish in top-tier, peer-reviewed international education journals

·      In addition, Associate Professors will be expected to lead in key areas of research within the department, mentor junior faculty members, supervise graduate students and serve in programme leadership.

We are seeking a dynamic, consultative **Cloud Architect** to join our team. This role is tailored for an experienced professional who is deeply familiar with the core cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and observability concepts required by large enterprise customers.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between high-level enterprise business strategy and technical execution. You will work closely with enterprise clients to uncover their specific structural or operational pain points, design purpose-fit, well-architected multi-cloud environments across **AWS** and **Google Cloud Platform (GCP)**, and maintain end-to-end technical accountability for the successful outcome of the delivery.

1. Enterprise Networking & Security Architecture

Complex Cloud Networking: Design resilient, enterprise-grade network topologies involving complex routing, Hub-and-Spoke models, VPCs, Shared VPCs, Transit Gateways, AWS Direct Connect, and Google Cloud Interconnect.

Enterprise Security Concepts: Architect robust Identity and Access Management (IAM) strategies, encryption models (KMS/Cloud KMS), and perimeter security controls (WAF, Enterprise Firewalls, DDoS mitigation) tailored for large-scale multi-tenant environments.

SecOps & Compliance Integration: Define the patterns for automated security guardrails, secure landing zone baselines, and continuous compliance scanning within enterprise delivery pipelines.

2. Core Infrastructure & Observability Governance

Well-Architected Framework Alignment: Serve as the custodian of cloud architectural integrity, ensuring all custom designs strictly map back to the AWS Well-Architected Framework and GCP Architecture Framework pillars (with a strong focus on Operational Excellence and Security).

Centralized Logging & Monitoring Architecture: Design enterprise-wide observability strategies. Define patterns for multi-account centralized logging, audit trails, real-time alerting, and telemetry aggregation required for operational visibility and compliance.

IaC Governance: Define the standards and architectural structures for Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Review configurations to ensure modular, secure, and compliant environments across client workloads.

3. Consulting, Discovery & Delivery Accountability

Pain Point Identification: Engage directly with enterprise stakeholders and technical teams to diagnose existing infrastructure bottlenecks, operational inefficiencies, visibility gaps, and architectural pain points.

Purpose-Fit Solution Design: Translate identified client challenges and strict technical/regulatory requirements into tailored, purpose-fit technical blueprints that solve specific business issues.

Delivery Accountability: Act as the technical lead and owner for assigned client engagements, maintaining full accountability for the successful execution and technical outcome of the final delivery.

Qualifications

Experience:

• 6 to 8 years of experience in cloud architecture, enterprise network engineering, or cloud infrastructure design.
• At least 2 years of active experience in a professional services or IT consulting environment.

Highly Regulated Environments (Plus):

• Strong track record of navigating architecture requirements for regulated industries (e.g., Public Sector, Financial Services) and compliance frameworks like IM8, SOC2, or ISO27001.
• Government Commercial Cloud / GCC (Plus):Experience engineering within the Government Commercial Cloud (GCC / GCC 2.0) framework or equivalent public-sector cloud architectures.

Technical Skills & Best Practices

• Observability & Logging Mastery: Deep understanding of distributed monitoring, logging, and tracing concepts. Strong familiarity with native cloud services including AWS CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, Google Cloud Monitoring, and Google Cloud Logging.
• Enterprise Network & Security Familiarity: Deep familiarity with enterprise cloud connectivity, BGP, DNS routing, load balancing topologies, Service Meshes, and multi-tenant isolation techniques.
• Automation & CI/CD Guardrails (Preferred):Strong understanding of best practices surrounding Terraform (or OpenTofu) and GitHub Workflows (GitHub Actions). Ability to define architectural standards, review configurations, design workflow gates, and guide engineering teams on implementation.

Third-Party Observability:

The School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU) invites applications for a one-year Visiting Professor position in Video Game Design and/or Game Studies and Ludology. ADM is part of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (COHASS).

This position is intended for eminent overseas academics-such as international prize recipients or distinguished scholars-whose presence will enhance the academic standing and creative output of the faculty. The primary responsibility of this role is teaching and academic mentorship; therefore, candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong teaching track record in a current or previous Professor academic level position.

We seek candidates with extensive expertise in Video Game Design, including specialized knowledge in areas such as game mechanics, level design, interactive narrative, player experience (UX), and emerging creative technologies. The appointed faculty will play a key role in supporting ADM's position as a leader in contemporary digital media and video game education in the region, bridging the gap between industry-standard practice and academic innovation.

·      A recognized practice in video games or related fields, with an impactful portfolio showcasing innovation, storytelling, and design across emerging technologies such as real-time engines, AR/VR, or generative AI in game systems.

·      Evidence of scholarly output in contemporary forums related to game studies, gaming theory, or creative computing, and a commitment to advancing the discipline through research or creative practice.

·      A willingness to engage with cultural, ethical, and philosophical dimensions of gaming practice, and the ability to connect with fields like digital humanities, ludic studies, or social gaming platforms.

·      A passion for education and the ability to foster a supportive, inclusive, and diverse learning environment, with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
