The role
Chubb’s Property team is seeking an experienced Complex & Structured Risk Underwriting Manager to profitably grow and manage a portfolio across mid-market and corporate risks. You’ll own end‑to‑end underwriting—from policy review and wording analysis to pricing, placement, and portfolio development—while building strong relationships with brokers and key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
• Underwrite new and renewal wholesale property risks within delegated authority to deliver profitable growth.
• Read and interpret policy forms; review and negotiate manuscript and market wordings, endorsements, and clauses.
• Apply technical underwriting disciplines (e.g., risk selection, exposure analysis, rating methodology, accumulation control, reinsurance structures).
• Assess COPE data, risk engineering reports, nat-cat exposures, and valuation adequacy; liaise with Risk Engineering as needed.
• Structure, price, and negotiate terms in line with Chubb guidelines, compliance, and appetite.
• Proactively develop and manage a broker portfolio; conduct regular meetings and pipeline reviews to drive submission flow and achieve the financial plan.
• Prepare referrals and present complex risks clearly to senior underwriters/line management.
• Maintain accurate file documentation, system hygiene, and reporting metrics.
• Collaborate with Claims, Risk Engineering, Operations, and Finance to deliver best-in-class outcomes for clients and brokers.
• Represent Chubb at market events to enhance visibility and win new business.
About you
• Sharp attention to detail with strong policy/wording literacy and contract certainty mindset.
• Able to work autonomously, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced market.
• Commercially minded, with strong negotiation skills and sound risk appetite judgment.
• Relationship builder who communicates clearly with brokers and internal stakeholders.
• Data- and outcome-driven; comfortable using underwriting tools and MI to steer portfolio performance.
Qualifications & experience
• 3–7+ years’ property underwriting experience (wholesale market exposure preferred).
• Solid understanding of technical underwriting, pricing/rating, and nat-cat/accumulation management.
• Familiarity with risk engineering inputs, valuations, and large/complex account structures.
• Knowledge of reinsurance, line sizing, and portfolio management principles.
• Relevant insurance qualifications or progress toward them are advantageous.
