About the Centre for Research in Health Systems Performance (CRiHSP)

Optimizing the performance of health systems is essential to ensuring the wellbeing and longevity of populations worldwide. Singapore is particularly well placed to lead research in this field as its health system has been consistently ranked as one of the best in the world based in independent evaluation with the Global Burden of Disease data. The Centre for Research in Health Systems Performance (CRiHSP) aims to advance research in this area within the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine of the National University of Singapore (NUS) as the leading centre for research in health systems in Asia with the following core functions:

1. Research: empirical and methodological research and evidence synthesis on health systems performance with a particular focus on Value Based Healthcare.
2. Health policy intelligence: health policy impact analysis aimed at policy makers, service providers, researchers, and the wider public.
3. Capacity building: formal postgraduate programme (from certificates to PhD), fellowships,  mentoring, on-the- job and ad hoc training
4. Contributing to improving NUHS performance: expert advice on the development, implementation, and evaluation of flagship initiatives (including Healthier SG) aimed at making step changes in NUHS performance, and programme evaluation

The multidisciplinary team of researchers in health systems (health services and policy researchers, data scientists, social scientists, and others), and administrators working in CRiHSP will provide an exciting and dynamic place in which people of diverse backgrounds collaborate towards the common goal of achieving excellence in Health Systems Research. Purpose of the Post

We seek a motivated and methodical researcher with a strong sense of analytical rigor, who is enthusiastic about applying data to real-world public health challenges and informing evidence-based policy. The Research Associate will report to and work closely with the Principal Investigator and study team members to support the successful implementation of ongoing research cycles under the GBD Study. The primary responsibilities will include conducting systematic reviews, performing data extraction and preparation, supporting quantitative data analysis, interpreting and critically appraising results, and contributing to the dissemination of findings to key stakeholders.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Associate will:

• Conduct systematic reviews and support data extraction, cleaning, and quality-checking in preparation for analysis.
• Support data analysis, including descriptive statistics, generation of graphs, tables, maps, and other innovative figures to visualise health data.
• Interpret and critically appraise analytical results, including cross-checking outputs against existing evidence, identifying implausible estimates, and investigating discrepancies before accepting findings.
• Plan and execute analyses in a structured and reproducible manner, maintaining clear documentation to support team-wide auditability and continuity.
• Contribute to key publications, including the development of manuscripts and associated publication materials.
• Assist in external engagement efforts, providing analytical and visualization support to local and regional partners, including the Ministries of Health and multilateral agencies across Asia.

Qualifications

The following qualifications and competencies are required or preferred:

Academic Background

• Master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, statistics, mathematics, social sciences, medicine, or other quantitative disciplines.
• Basic working knowledge of epidemiological measures (e.g. incidence, prevalence, mortality rates, age-standardized rates, disability-adjusted life years) is required.
• Prior research experience is an advantage but is not strictly required.

Analytical & Technical Skills

• Proficiency in R or Python for data wrangling, analysis, and visualization. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the logic and validity of their analytical steps, not only the mechanics of running code.
• Familiarity with statistical concepts, including measures of central tendency, regression models, uncertainty estimation, and data quality assessment.
• Familiarity with systematic review methods and databases (e.g. PRISMA, PubMed, Embase) is an advantage; full training will be provided.

The research associate will work on statistical and mathematical modelling projects. Major duties and responsibility of the post includes:
- analysing data using statistical and mathematical modelling techniques,
- writing reports, presentations, and publication of results and findings in peer-reviewed journal,
- supervising junior staff as required

Candidate must:
- have two years of research experience in mathematical or statistical modelling applied to the field of epidemiology

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking multiple determined full-time Research Associate(s) to join a new group led by Dr Angkana T Huang.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on one of several research projects using computational methods to understand the mechanisms underpinning the ecology and evolution of dengue and related arboviruses across Asia and globally. The long-term goal is to generate insights that enable interventions to be better designed, more effectively deployed, and resilient to an ever-evolving infectious disease landscape. Candidates with ambitions to define and pursue independent research questions of mutual interest are strongly encouraged to apply.

Research in the group spans a broad and multidisciplinary scope, for example:

• Macro-processes reshaping who gets infected and when
• The molecular basis of differences in virus properties, such as antigenicity

Climate change is the defining challenge of this century, and healthcare is both a victim of climate change and a major contributor to it. The Centre for Sustainable Medicine (CoSM) at the National University of Singapore works at the frontier of policy, clinical systems, and global health to accelerate the transition to low-carbon, climate-resilient health systems across Asia and worldwide.

Purpose of the Post

We invite applications from a dynamic, experienced professional to help advance CoSM’s research priorities and to strengthen the real-world uptake of the Centre’s work.

The postholder will work across the Centre’s major workstreams - including health system carbon analytics, clinical transformation, and capacity building - ensuring that research and technical evidence are synthesised, interpreted, and translated into decision-ready outputs for policymakers, health system leaders, clinicians, partners, and other stakeholders.

This is a cross-cutting role at the interface of research, policy, and implementation. The successful candidate will play a leading role in converting evidence into high-impact products, supporting policy feedback cycles, and strengthening lessons from implementation and stakeholder engagement to inform the Centre’s future research.

Key Responsibilities and Roles

1. Research synthesis, analysis, and translation

• Contribute to the development of research outputs, including reports, peer-reviewed publications, technical analyses, and policy papers.
• Support the analysis and interpretation of research findings from CoSM projects, including emissions baselines, adaptation and mitigation strategies, health system analytics, and education initiatives.
• Translate research outputs into clear and actionable products for policy and practice, including policy briefs, executive summaries, technical guidance, and knowledge products.
• Identify cross-cutting insights from CoSM’s body of work and shape coherent evidence narratives that communicate the Centre’s contribution to global sustainable healthcare transformation.

1. Policy feedback and implementation learning

• Support the policy feedback cycle by gathering and synthesising insights from governments, delivery partners, clinicians, and other stakeholders on how evidence is being received, interpreted, and applied.

• Support dissemination of research through regional and global platforms, including technical forums, convenings, policy roundtables, and academic or professional events.
• Prepare high-quality briefing materials, concept notes, slide decks, summary papers, and dissemination products for international events, multilateral engagements, and senior partner discussions.
• Develop accessible summaries and tailored synthesis materials for different stakeholder groups, including ministries of health, hospital leaders, clinicians, finance stakeholders, academic audiences, and learners.
• Support the strategic positioning of CoSM’s flagship initiatives by ensuring clarity, consistency, and strong evidence-based narratives across written, digital, and presentation materials.

• 3-8 years of experience in research, public policy, evidence synthesis, policy-facing roles, or related functions.

• Strong analytical and writing skills, with excellent editorial judgement and the ability to distil evidence without oversimplifying it.
