About the Role

The incumbent is responsible for shaping AIA Singapore’s engineering strategy, building scalable and secure application platforms, and driving best-in-class engineering practices across multiple development teams.

This role manages multiple engineering teams delivering enterprise applications built using modern platform using Java, Python, SQL/Postgres/MS SQL, Kubernetes, deployed as microservices on Azure Cloud. The ideal candidate should bring deep hands-on engineering expertise, strong architectural thinking, and the ability to lead and grow technical teams.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Strategic Leadership

• Define and drive the engineering roadmap aligned with AIA Singapore’s digital and data strategy.

• Design scalable, secure, high-performance application architectures leveraging cloud-native engineering on Azure.

• Establish engineering governance, coding standards, DevOps practices, and quality controls to ensure security, availability, and operational excellence.

• Stay current with emerging technologies and proactively introduce modern engineering capabilities (microservices, containerization, APIs, DevSecOps, data engineering practices, etc.).

Delivery Ownership

• Oversee delivery of complex, mission-critical applications across 5 engineering teams.

• Collaborate with AIA Group, Technology teams, and Product Managers to define, plan, and execute the technology roadmap.

• Ensure teams deliver high-quality, scalable and maintainable solutions within agreed timelines.

• Remove blockers, optimize engineering processes, and drive continuous improvement in speed, stability, and reliability.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Serve as primary point of contact for business units, translating outcomes to measurable deliverables (SLAs, KPIs, timelines).

• Drive prioritization and backlog management across multiple squads, balancing regulatory deadlines, business demand, and technical debt.

• Champion data product thinking—clearly defined ownership, contracts, SLAs, versioning, and standardized documentation (API specs, data dictionaries).

Governance Risk and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory frameworks (e.g., MAS TRM, cyber hygiene, records retention), audit readiness, and evidence collection.

• Own access management and API policy governance (rate limits, quotas, consumer onboarding, keys, secrets).

Operational Excellence

• Define and monitor SLAs for system availability, performance, and reliability.

• Implement automation and monitoring solutions to ensure efficient operation and minimal downtime.

• Oversee capacity planning, mange budget, forecasting costs, optimizing platform usage and infra resources and cost optimization of infrastructure.

People leadership

• Build and lead a high‑performing team (platform engineers, leads, API developers).

• Foster a culture of customer focus, accountability, and continuous improvement; mentor managers and senior ICs.

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE

• Degree from a recognized University in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.

• 12+ years of total experience in which 10+ years of hands-on software development experience with strong proficiency in Java, Python, Microservices architecture, SQL & relational database design, Kubernetes & containerization, Cloud-native development and 8+ years of engineering leadership experience managing multiple technical teams or large-scale engineering organizations.

• Proven experience in designing and delivering enterprise-grade systems with high scalability, performance, and availability.

• Strong architectural mindset with the ability to guide technical direction and make informed engineering decisions.

• Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders across business, technology, and group teams.

• Experience in coaching and developing engineering managers and senior engineers.

• Insurance/financial services experience is a plus but not mandatory.

Work you will do

This role sits within the Artificial Intelligence & Data team of Deloitte Southeast Asia, a group that leverages modern AI, machine learning, and data technologies to solve complex business challenges. As a leader in this space, you will drive the strategy, development, and delivery of AI-powered solutions across industries, focusing on Generative AI, agent-based AI, large language models (LLMs), and advanced data ecosystems.

As a Data & AI Platform Product Manager - Vice President within the APAC Chief Analytics and Data Office, you will own the APAC technical product agenda for the firm’s Data & AI platform capabilities. You will translate APAC business, regulatory, and user needs into clear product requirements, prioritized backlog/roadmap inputs, and measurable adoption outcomes. You will partner closely with APAC and global stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Product Enablement, Business Adoption, Risk, Controls, Data/AI Governance, and Lines of Business to ensure platform capabilities are fit-for-purpose, production-ready, and scalable across APAC markets.

Job responsibilities

• Lead APAC technical product discovery with business sponsors, end users, client technology teams, Customer Success, and Business Adoption to identify high-impact Data & AI platform opportunities

• Develop a strong understanding of APAC workflows, user pain points, data flows, technical constraints, regulatory expectations, and adoption barriers across markets and Lines of Business

• Triage incoming demand to determine the right path (self-serve, product expertise, solution design, new feature development, or APAC-specific capability) and define clear problem statements and success criteria

• Define APAC-specific platform requirements across functional, data, integration, access/entitlements, controls, and user experience needs, including user journeys and acceptance criteria

• Translate data governance, AI governance, risk and control expectations into platform capability requirements (e.g., approvals, guardrails, lineage, auditability, evidence capture)

• Define non-functional requirements where needed (scalability, resilience, performance, security, access control, operational readiness)

• Own and maintain the APAC technical product backlog; ensure requirements are engineering-ready for feasibility assessment, sequencing, dependencies, and delivery planning

• Partner with APAC CAO/CPO and intake forums to prioritize work based on business value, regulatory relevance, risk/control requirements, user impact, and technical feasibility

• Provide structured APAC inputs into global/regional platform roadmaps, balancing regional needs with global strategy to avoid unnecessary fragmentation

• Define measurable outcomes and track success (adoption, usage, value realization, control adherence, production readiness, customer satisfaction), converting learnings into backlog improvements

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, or related field

• 8+ years of experience in technical/platform product management, data/AI platforms, enterprise technology products, or related roles

• Strong understanding of data and AI platform capabilities (data management, analytics enablement, AI/ML enablement, governance, lineage, data quality, access controls/entitlements, adoption)

• Demonstrated ability to translate business problems, regulatory requirements, and technical constraints into product requirements, user journeys, acceptance criteria, and roadmap priorities

• Strong technical fluency (data flows, APIs, platform architecture, cloud-based platforms, integration patterns, technical documentation, non-functional requirements)

• Experience partnering with engineering teams to shape platform capabilities while maintaining clear product ownership of the “what/why/for whom”

• Strong product judgment with ability to make trade-offs across value, urgency, feasibility, risk, and platform strategy

• Experience operating in financial services or another regulated environment
