Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Control and Software Engineer to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of advanced control systems and embedded software for next-generation Solid State Transformers (SST), high-power grid-tied inverters, and large-scale renewable energy integration platforms.

You will drive technical innovation in medium- and high-voltage power electronics for applications including data center electrification, utility-scale renewables, microgrids, EV charging infrastructure, and smart grid systems. This senior role involves end-to-end technical ownership—from control strategy definition and system modeling to real-time software implementation, validation, and field deployment—while mentoring junior engineers and influencing technology roadmap decisions.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the development and optimization of real-time control algorithms for Solid State Transformers (multi-stage, multilevel, and resonant topologies) and grid-connected inverters operating in both grid-forming and grid-following modes.

· Architect and implement robust embedded software and firmware (C/C++) for DSP, FPGA, and multi-core microcontroller platforms, ensuring high-performance bi-directional power flow, fault management, and seamless grid interaction.

· Define and execute system-level modeling and simulation strategies using MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD/EMTDC, or similar tools; drive automatic code generation and model-based design workflows for production systems.

· Lead renewable energy integration efforts, including PV, wind, and energy storage systems, with advanced techniques such as virtual synchronous machines (VSM), hierarchical power management, droop control, inertia emulation, and compliance with stringent grid codes (IEEE 1547, IEC 61727/62116, Grid Code requirements).

· Oversee Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), Power-Hardware-in-the-Loop (PHIL), and Controller Hardware-in-the-Loop (CHIL) testing campaigns; lead performance validation, stability analysis, and certification activities.

· Provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams (hardware, systems, test, and firmware) on protection schemes, communication architectures (IEC 61850, Modbus TCP, DNP3, OPC-UA), cybersecurity, and functional safety.

· Mentor and guide junior control/software engineers; conduct design reviews, establish best practices, and drive continuous improvement of the control software platform and architecture.

· Identify and solve complex technical challenges related to harmonics, resonance, grid disturbances, renewable intermittency, and high-power SiC/GaN-based converters.

· Contribute to R&D strategy, intellectual property (patents), technical publications, and product roadmap planning to maintain technology leadership in SST and renewable integration.

Required Qualifications

· Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Systems, or a related field (PhD strongly preferred).

· 7+ years of hands-on industry experience in control and embedded software development for high-power power electronics, with direct involvement in inverters, DC-DC converters, or Solid State Transformers.

· Demonstrated expertise in:

o Advanced control techniques (Model Predictive Control, resonant controllers, adaptive control, PLL/synchronization algorithms, dq0-frame and stationary-frame control).

o Real-time embedded programming (C/C++, RTOS, bare-metal) and FPGA firmware (VHDL/Verilog).

o Model-based design and automatic code generation workflows.

· Strong background in power electronics modeling, renewable integration, microgrid systems, and grid compliance testing.

· Proven track record of leading technical deliverables from concept through to successful product deployment or field operation.

The Test Engineer (Senior) is responsible for leading end-to-end testing activities for IT systems, ensuring they meet functional, security, and regulatory requirements. The role supports the delivery of secure, reliable digital services aligned with Singapore Government standards (e.g., IM8, PDPA).

Key Responsibilities

1.Test Strategy & Governance

•Develop and implement test strategies aligned with Government project frameworks(e.g., GovTech standards)

•Ensure compliance with:

- IM8 security policies

- PDPA (data protection requirements)

- Government ICT & cybersecurity guidelines

- Define test approach, scope, entry/exit criteria

2.Test Planning & Execution

•Manage full testing lifecycle:

System Integration Testing (SIT)

End-to-End testing

User Acceptance Testing (UAT) coordination with agencies

•Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and defects

•Monitor testing progress, risks, and issues

3.Stakeholder Management

Collaborate with:

- Government agencies

- Business users

- Programme/project managers

•Facilitate defect triage and resolution discussions

4. Defect & Quality Management

• Govern defect lifecycle:

o Logging, triaging, prioritization, and closure

• Ensure minimal defect leakage into production

• Drive quality assurance processes and audits

5. Security & Compliance Testing

• Ensure testing covers:

o Performance testing

o Security testing - VA/PT coordination (where applicable)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline

• 3++ years of experience in software testing / QA, preferably in large-scale systems

• Strong knowledge of:

o SDLC methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid)

o Testing tools (e.g., JIRA)

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to GovTech or public digital services

Familiarity with:

o IM8 policies and government security standards

o Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure – especially GCC environments)

• Automation & Continuous Improvement

o Promote adoption of test automation and DevSecOps practices (where applicable)

o Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines (where applicable)

o Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency and coverage

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in software quality assurance.
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies and experience with software development lifecycle.
• Proficient in programming for white-box testing, and familiar with grey-box and black-box testing.
• Good understanding of coding and programming standards for JavaScript and Python.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
