The PFA & EFA Technician will provide comprehensive Electrical Failure Analysis (EFA) and Physical Failure Analysis (PFA) support for products across NPI, qualifications and high-volume manufacturing (HVM).  

A key part of this role is the disposition of maverick material triggered by the Statistical Bin Limit (SBL) system—using data-driven evaluation, structured troubleshooting, and effective collaboration with cross-functional partners. You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to identify failure signatures, determine root cause and failure mechanisms, recommend lot disposition, and partake on continuous improvement to reduce and improve SBL fail rates. 

This position requires keen technical curiosity, disciplined execution, clear communication, and strict adherence to lab safety and quality systems in a fast-paced production environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

1) Maverick Lot Disposition via SBL System & Deviation Management 

• Extract, interpret, and analyze test data to support SBL-triggered investigations. 

• Execute and follow up on FA actions (EFA and/or PFA) to determine disposition paths. 

• Recommend and communicate lot dispositions clearly and timely to stakeholders for quality control. 

• Maintain strong working knowledge of test processes, equipment, systems, and product behavior to enable accurate decision-making.

2) Electrical Failure Analysis (EFA)

• Conduct physical failure analysis and correlate electrical failure modes to physical defects when needed. 

• Perform package and sample preparation activities such as:  

• Package de-processing. 

• Cross-sectioning support (manual and/or tool-assisted) 

• IMC measurement (where applicable) 

• Utilize layout and failure localization information to correlate suspected defect locations. 

• Operate FA lab tools such as Ion Miller, FIB, EDX, SEM, 2D/3D X-ray, Thermal EMMI, and other laboratory equipment. 

• Capture, save, and organize images and data; write structured, detailed FA documentation and reports with clear conclusions and supporting evidence. 

• Coordinate with vendors for tool maintenance, upgrades, and service support; support general tool upkeep and lab readiness. 

4) Continuous Improvement & Productivity 

• Propose and implement engineering and technical improvement ideas to reduce SBL triggers and optimize SBL disposition efficiency for EFA/PFA workflows. 

• Assist engineers with initiatives to improve FA efficiency, effectiveness, and consistency (methods, tooling, templates, checklists, and standard work). 

• Support labor productivity projects that improve throughput, reduce rework, and enhance reporting quality. 

• Contribute to technical projects and, where applicable, support technical paper creation and knowledge sharing.

Support New Product Introduction (NPI) execution activities in MSB Assembly Cleanroom (CR1/CR2/CR3) to ensure timely, safe, and compliant execution of NPI builds, from lot release through AOut, by coordinating daily execution, tracking issues, and supporting engineers, CEM, IPPC, and manufacturing teams. 

Key Roles & Responsibilities 

1. NPI Execution Support (Core Responsibility) 

• Support daily NPI lot execution across Assembly CR1/CR2/CR3 (Die Attach, Wire Bond, Encapsulation, Laser, Singulation, etc.). 

• Monitor NPI lots status (WIP, holds, rework, conversion, disposition) and highlight risks to NPM / Process / Equipment / CEM. 

• Assist in expediting NPI lots to meet AOut, MAD, MCD, and customer commitment dates. 

• Track build readiness (material availability, tooling, DID, recipe, conversion readiness). 

2. Daily Operations & Issue Tracking 

• Support daily shift execution by tracking:  

• Tool readiness / downtime impact to NPI 

• Conversion issues (recipe mismatch, DID gaps, tooling mismatch) 

• Process abnormalities, yield issues, and holds 

• Help prepare and update daily execution trackers, WIP lists, and action logs. 

• Escalate execution blockers promptly to responsible owners. 

3. CrossFunctional Coordination 

• Work closely with:  

• NPI / NPM engineers 

• Assembly Process & Equipment Engineers 

• CEM / IPPC / Manufacturing teams 

• Planning and Test NPM 

• Support interteam communication to ensure correct priorities for NPI lots. 

• Assist in coordinating shift handover information for NPI execution continuity. 

4. Documentation & System Support 

• Assist in:  

• Updating NPI build information in Omelek / ATPEA / SAP / internal trackers. 

• Verifying correct process flow, routing, and disposition rules are applied. 

• Support preparation of basic reports, summaries, and status updates for NPI reviews. 

• Ensure documentation completeness for NPI execution (build notes, deviations, followups). 

5. Compliance, Safety & Quality 

• Ensure NPI execution follows MSB Assembly specifications, safety rules, and cleanroom protocols. 

• Support engineers during process deviations, ensuring proper escalation and documentation. 

• Assist in monitoring hold lots, expired materials impact, and qualityrelated alerts affecting NPI. 

Required Qualifications 

• Nitec/Higher Nitec/Diploma in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related). 

• 0–3 years experience in semiconductor assembly, manufacturing, or operations support. 

• Familiarity with cleanroom operations is an advantage. 

• Basic knowledge of NPI flows is preferred. 

Key Skills & Competencies

• Ability to track multiple lots and priorities in a fastpaced environment.

  Supports engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, or specialized test equipment. Applications may include analog, digital and/or video circuits and logic systems. Works from schematics, diagrams, written, and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Assists in the design, construction, test, and check-out of test equipment. Uses manufacturing, test, development, or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized test apparatus.

The Probe Shift Equipment Technologist plays a critical hands-on role in enabling Parametric and Functional testing. They ensure reliable operation, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and continuous improvement of Probe equipment. This role supports manufacturing excellence by maintaining equipment stability, resolving issues quickly, and driving data-driven improvements during shift operations.

In the role of Shift Technologist, you will work alongside engineers, production, and process partners to identify equipment issues, carry out root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions that safeguard yield, quality, and cycle time. You will contribute to smart manufacturing projects by bringing to bear data, automation, and emerging digital or AI-enabled technologies to improve equipment health monitoring and operational efficiency. Success in this position requires clear communication, technical ownership, and a strong safety outlook.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Deliver shift-based technical assistance for Probe equipment, including operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and recovery to ensure stable manufacturing output.

• Complete preventive and corrective maintenance activities, including BOM checks, consumable management, and SOP adherence to sustain equipment performance and reliability.

• Perform equipment data analysis and root-cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 5-Why, 8D) to resolve recurring or complex equipment issues.

• Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including equipment optimization, process stabilization, and implementation of best-known methods.

• Contribute to digital, automation, and AI-enabled solutions for equipment health detection, fault analysis, and performance optimization, in collaboration with engineering teams.

• Maintain close communication with production and process collaborators to ensure alignment on priorities, shift handovers, and quick resolution of equipment risks when critical issues arise.

• Promote and align with a Safe and Green working environment by following established safety procedures, participating in training, and supporting sustainability initiatives.

• Document technical findings, corrective actions, and lessons learned to support knowledge sharing and long-term equipment improvement.

Requirements:

• Diploma in Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, Materials Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience in Probe manufacturing.

• Strong hands-on technical competence with semiconductor Probe equipment, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and equipment recovery in a production environment.

• Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills using structured methodologies such as 5-Why, 8D, FMEA, or Lean manufacturing tools.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills to support shift handovers, cross-functional collaboration, and addressing customer concerns.

• Willingness to work in a shift-based manufacturing environment and respond effectively to dynamic production demands.

• Interest in or basic understanding of automation, data analytics, or AI applications in semiconductor manufacturing is an advantage.

• Knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Probe operations is beneficial.
  

Responsible for monitoring tool performance and scheduling and performing preventative maintenance on your assigned area's equipment. Use mechanical and electronic skills to troubleshoot and repair down equipment. Assist with equipment installs and upgrades and create and modify equipment procedures. Work to increase tool uptime through systematic problem-solving and troubleshooting, quality workmanship, and routine reviews of maintenance checklists and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain overall production efficiencies of assigned workstations

Job Summary:  
Equipment Technicians are responsible for monitoring, sustaining, and improving the equipment in their assigned area, while working in partnership with Shift Operations team members, area equipment engineers and tool vendors. Equipment Technicians monitor tool performance, schedule and perform preventative maintenance on assigned tool sets, and use mechanical, electronic and PC/software skills to repair equipment issues. 
 
Main Responsibilities:

Minimum Required Qualifications/Experience  

• Diploma in Engineering. Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic Engineering is preferred 

• Able to work on 12 hours rotating shift.

• Experience in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting is preferred 

• Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing process and technologies is preferred
