• Perform maintenance activities in a safe manner align with the Health and Safety Requirement of the company.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Achieve high standards of safe and pollution-free operations of vessels by ensuring that company policies related to Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality Assurance (HSEQA) are effectively implemented

Position Overview

EOS Innovation Singapore is seeking software engineers across a range of experience levels to support the development of advanced defence products. These are hands-on engineering roles embedded within multidisciplinary teams of mechanical, electronic, optical and systems engineers. The work combines software development with real hardware integration, experimental subsystems and evolving product requirements, and will suit engineers who enjoy solving practical problems, working close to prototypes and equipment, and turning emerging capability into robust, production-ready software.

Primary Duties

This role contributes to the design, development, integration, verification and support of software used in complex defence systems. Engineers in this position will work across activities such as equipment interfacing, control and automation, algorithm implementation, user interfaces, test support and system integration. More experienced candidates will be expected to provide technical leadership, guide software design decisions, mentor less experienced engineers and help shape robust engineering practices. We're looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in Java/Kotlin backend development, with proven delivery in internet-scale applications, large financial systems, or e-commerce platforms.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields (or equivalent practical experience).

• Strong knowledge of Java ecosystem, including concurrency/multithreading, high-throughput IO (NIO), and network communication fundamentals.

• Solid foundation in distributed systems design: high concurrency, high load, high availability, resilience, and scalability.

• Strong engineering practices: performance tuning, service stability, data/query optimization, and production troubleshooting.

• Experience with Spring / Spring Boot and designing RESTful APIs.

• Familiarity with build tools such as Gradle/Maven.

• Familiarity with common data formats such as JSON (XML is a plus, not a must).

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Strong domain knowledge in risk management, fraud detection, and fintech payment risk strategies.

• Experience with graph databases and graph-based pattern/anomaly detection.

• Experience applying machine learning for predictive risk analytics (model integration, feature engineering collaboration, etc.).

• Experience with real-time streaming and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Flink) for low-latency detection and response.

• Experience with large-scale analytics and storage technologies (e.g., ClickHouse, Spark, NoSQL) for risk analysis and investigations.

• Incident response experience, including mitigation planning and post-incident improvement.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a cross-regional, cross-functional environment.

• Familiarity with LLM evaluation and safety practices (offline/online evals, red teaming, prompt injection defenses, PII handling, and guardrails) for enterprise use cases.

This will be a 2-years direct contract position.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop and own architecture blueprints.
• Analyze design options and document trade-offs.
• Decide on technology choices, integration patterns, and platform strategies.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, UX designers, and agency stakeholders to ensure architectures are feasible, aligned, and deliverable.
• Architecture and design reviews, enforce standards, and ensure solutions comply with security, data, and policies.
• Coach, guide, and mentor engineers on architectural best practices.
• Cultivate a culture of quality and sound design thinking.
• Identify architectural risks, integration complexities, and legacy constraints.
• Propose mitigation strategies and pragmatic solutions.
• Develop and maintain up-to-date architecture artefacts (reference architectures, decision records, integration maps).
• Produce multi-year technical roadmap, set organisation-wide architectural standards, and be the representative in technology forums.
• Stay abreast with emerging technologies, cloud-native patterns, and industry best practices.

Requirements

• At least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in software engineering or IT, with at least 3 years in a technical lead or principal engineer role.
• Track record of owning end-to-end architecture for production systems at scale.
• Stakeholder relationships management.

Experience in:

• Leading architecture across multiple teams or platforms
• Cloud architecture
• Designing secure systems — encompassing identity and access management, authentication flows, data protection, and compliance with security standards.
• Reading and reviewing code across relevant technology stacks (e.g., Node.js, React, Python) to ensure architectural intent is faithfully implemented.
• Producing high-quality architecture documentation — C4 diagrams, sequence diagrams, data flow diagrams, and architecture decision records (ADRs).
• Facilitate architecture workshops, design reviews, and technical spike sessions.

Understanding of:

• Microservices, event-driven architecture, API design (REST, GraphQL), and system integration patterns.
• Containerisation and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
