Summary of Job Position:

To assist the Financial Controller in overall smooth running of the Accounts Department, ensure the timely preparation of financial reports including forecasting and budgeting and also compliance of internal controls requirements.

Responsibilities

1. Supervise the month-end closing of the books and ensure the timely completion of all financial and statistical reports according to the predetermined datelines.

2. Ensure all General Ledger accounts are reconciled monthly and material variances investigated.

3. Oversee Income Audit, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and ensure the timely reconciliation of bank accounts, income audit and any unexplained variances must be promptly investigated and reported.

4. Review all journal entries, vouchers, checks, debit/credit notes, etc.

5. Check payment vouchers and ensure that the payments are supported by invoices and the required supporting.

6. Ensure inventories are properly taken and variances with book values are promptly investigated and resolved.

7. Assist the Financial Controller in managing the day-to-day operations of the Accounts department, ensure a smooth and effective daily work routine of the Accounting employees.

8. Assist the Financial Controller in the supervision, training and development of Accounting employees.

9. Ensure compliance to the hotel’s policies and procedures, internal control requirements and recommend changes to enhance the procedures as may require.

10. Co-ordinate the collection and compilation of reports and statistical data required by the management, statistics survey for hotel industry and other statutory board.

11. Attend meetings and take charge of the Accounts department in the absence of the Financial Controller.

12. Assist in internal and external audit and property tax submission.

13. Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist and report to Director of Finance in all areas relating to finance operation, project, financial

reporting, management analysis, consolidation and all treasury related matters.

• Work with team members and stake holders to compile data /information for variance / trend

analysis, conduct market research, and consolidate analysis to support decision making.

• Prepare/review materials, input, analysis, reports and presentations for senior management

meetings, board meetings, parents’ townhall and other purposes.

• Assist in designing, communicating and implementing new finance / procurement templates and

forms to promote the digitalization of internal process wherever required.

• Ensure smooth AP functions by overseeing the AP team to collate, verify and process payments and

staff reimbursement within the internal timeframes.

• Streamline AR functions by participating in AR projects, such as formulating new AR related

policies, GST migration project and other AR related process.

• Supervise/ carry out the month end and year end closing process, review / prepare journal entries,

bank reconciliation and monthly schedules.

• Be the key liaison person for all the school fund raising events, monitor internal approval process,

the incoming and the disbursement of donations and keep comprehensive records.

• Prepare and update cash flow forecast, monitor cash positions and manage all bank and investment

related matters, such as changes in authorised bank signatories, FD placement/renewal, purchase /

disposal of ST investments, repayments/drawdown/ rollover of bank loans, etc.

• Ensure compliance of budget control by preparing/reviewing/monitoring budget vs actual reports,

communicating and highlighting issues to all budget holders.

• Ensure compliance with all internal policies and SOPs in the allocated job functions.

• To be actively involved in the change process of School, including but not limited to the reviewing,

streamlining, standardizing, and implementing internal controls and processes by achieving a risk visà-vis efficiency balanced approach.

• To be part of the project leadership in the assigned IT related projects for Finance/Procurement

team to assist system improvement, data migration exercise and implement new process and controls

in the new IT system.

• Update knowledge and expertise of changing statutory requirements, accounting standards, tax laws

and charity regulations to determine the implications of such changes to financial / management

reporting and internal process.

• Communicate effectively with both internal and external parties, keep complete record of meeting

discussions and follow up the outstanding matters closely.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Data and Process Automation

• Drive and implement process enhancement initiatives to improve operational efficiency, reporting accuracy, controls and governance, including:

1. Finance system implementations, upgrades and integrations.
2. Automation of financial close processes, and optimization of data workflows to minimize manual efforts and maximize productivity.
3. Strengthen internal controls and compliance while improving transparency and accuracy.

• Collaborate with APAC and global Finance teams on strategic projects and ad hoc tasks to strengthen data governance, ensure seamless integration with other systems, and align processes with best practices and organizational objectives.

Financial Closing

• Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation and posting of journal entries to ensure accurate and timely financial results.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, IT and Reinsurance, to ensure accurate, consistent and complete data for financial reporting and group intercompany reconciliations.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare and review the regulatory and statutory reporting in compliance with MAS requirements and IFRS 17 standards.
• Prepare and deliver accurate monthly financial reporting packages and group reporting submissions, in accordance with group reporting requirements and timelines.
• Assist with external and internal audits, including preparing detailed schedules, supporting documentation and timely responses to audit queries.

Requirements Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, Actuarial Science, Data Science or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in regulatory and financial reporting, process improvement and data analytics.
• Professional qualifications such as CA Singapore, ACCA, CPA, actuarial certifications, or data analytics credentials are highly desirable.
• Prior experience in insurance financial reporting or working with renowned audit firms is an advantage.

Skills

• Ability to improve performance and efficiency through the implementation of effective business intelligence techniques and strategies.
