We are looking for a hands-on DWDM / Optical Transport Engineer to support the design, implementation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of carrier-grade optical transport networks in Singapore.

• Conduct and support technical testing such as:

• Ensure all implemented links meet technical and operational acceptance standards before handover.

5) Data Centre and Site Activities

• Attend data centres, customer premises, POPs, or carrier facilities for implementation, troubleshooting, migration, and emergency restoration work.
• Perform rack-level work including patching, tracing, port verification, physical inspection, basic equipment replacement, and coordination of smart hands / remote hands.
• Maintain accurate labelling, documentation, fibre records, and patching standards.

6) Documentation and Reporting

• Prepare and maintain:

• network diagrams
  
  circuit records

  patching

  implementation
  
  method of procedure (MOP)

  as-built documentation

  restoration reports

  maintenance reports

• Keep technical inventory, optics records, port mapping, and service database updated.

7) Change Management and Maintenance

• Plan and execute scheduled maintenance, service migrations, and midnight / after-hours cutovers with minimal downtime.
• Participate in change reviews, risk assessments, rollback planning, and implementation planning.
• Ensure proper communication before, during, and after maintenance windows.

8) Stakeholder Coordination

• Liaise with:

• carrier/ telco NOCs

  data centre operators

  vendors/ OEM support teams

  field engineers / contractors

  internal sales / project / operations teams

  customers where technical clarification is needed

• Provide clear technical updates during incidents and implementation work.

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

• Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, or related discipline.
• Proven experience in DWDM / optical transport / transmission network support.
• Good understanding of:

• DWDM / CWDM concepts

  optical attenuation and power budget

  transceivers / optics compatibility

  fibre patching and fibre troubleshooting

  optical transport service activation and fault isolation

• Able to work independently at data centre and site environments.
• Able to support after office hours maintenance, midnight cutovers, and rare emergency downtime restoration.
• Must be able to travel independently to islandwide sites / data centres at short notice, especially for urgent service restoration or planned maintenance.
• Strong sense of responsibility, urgency, and ownership during network incidents.

Preferred / Added Advantage

• Experience with OTN / ROADM / muxponder / transponder platforms.
• Familiarity with transport vendors such as Ciena, Nokia, Infinera, Smartoptics, PacketLight, Cisco, Juniper or equivalent.
• Experience supporting inter-DC connectivity, carrier backhaul, MPLS handoff environments, or Layer 1 transport services.
• Familiarity with testing tools such as:

• optical power meter

  light source

• OTDR

BERT tester

Ethernet/ transport test set

• Knowledge of IP / Ethernet / MPLS concepts is an advantage, especially for customer handoff troubleshooting.
• Class 3 driving licence / own vehicle is a strong advantage if emergency attendance is needed.

Overview:
The M&E Engineer is responsible for the design, coordination, installation, testing, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems in construction or industrial projects. This includes HVAC, electrical power systems, plumbing, fire protection, and other building services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design & Planning

• Prepare and review M&E design drawings, specifications, and calculations.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders.

2. Project Coordination

• Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers on M&E works.
• Attend site meetings and resolve technical issues.
• Ensure proper integration of M&E systems with overall project works.

3. Site Supervision

• Monitor installation works to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Conduct inspections and ensure quality control on-site.
• Ensure works are completed according to schedule.

4. Testing & Commissioning

• Oversee testing and commissioning of M&E systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical systems).
• Ensure systems operate efficiently and safely.
• Prepare and review commissioning reports.

5. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Plan and implement preventive maintenance programs.
• Diagnose and resolve system faults or failures.
• Ensure minimal downtime of systems.

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain proper documentation such as drawings, reports, and manuals.
• Prepare progress reports and technical submissions.
• Ensure all records comply with regulatory requirements.
