This role will involve developing, applying, and refining computational models to better understand urban dynamics, including how land use and transportation interact with the physical, social, and economic environment.

They will work with a collaborative and interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers that have a passion in understanding the dynamics of large-scale socio-technical systems such as urban transportation (either land, air and/or sea) as well as the relationship between the built environment and social outcomes (such as health or behavioural outcomes across different population segments).

Innovation-as-a-Service Centre for Sustainability Innovation (IaaS CSI) is an ecosystem-level platform helmed by SIT to support innovation projects (from POC test-bedding to implementation) and talent development, thus enabling agencies and enterprises to accelerate innovation for the green economy.

IaaS CSI aims to champion innovation within Singapore innovation ecosystem by bringing together capabilities from Universities, Polytechnics, ITE, Research Institutes, Industry. It is supported by the National Research Foundation (NRF) and staffed by Professional Officers/RE/RF who will serve as “Connectors” linking the industry to the research performers.

Research Engineers/Research Fellows work with industry partners to co-create commercially viable solutions. They deliver projects that help the industries and businesses move up the value chain. While working on these projects, RE/RF will have the opportunity to leverage or be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands. The success of these initiatives will bring about deeper collaboration with key industry stakeholders that will translate industry engagement into more innovation projects with SIT and/or the greater ecosystem at large.

The RE/RF for Centre for Sustainability Innovation will play a pivotal role in advancing sustainability-focused research and projects that are relevant to the maritime domain, built environment, food and chemicals, healthcare, and others. Collaborating closely with faculty, industry partners, researchers, and students, the RE/RF will co-create impactful, practical, and commercially viable solutions that address critical sustainability challenges, encompassing environmental, social, and economic dimensions.

Key Responsibilities:

Applied Research and Innovation:

• Lead and manage projects focused on sustainability innovation, including carbon accounting and management, renewable energy, circular economy, sustainable materials, and carbon reduction technologies.
• Support life cycle analysis (LCA), environmental impact assessments, and resource optimization studies to address real-world sustainability challenges.
• Explore emerging technologies, frameworks, and practices to advance sustainable solutions in industries.

Industry Engagement:

• Technical professionals who will work with local enterprises to frame projects, identify capabilities needed from the industry ecosystem, IHLs and centers.

• Collaborate with industry partners to co-create sustainable solutions that enhance their operations and align with sustainability goals.
• Foster partnerships with businesses, government agencies, and other stakeholders to develop impactful projects that enhance environmental, social, and economic outcomes.
• Involve in industry engagements, help to bring in higher value-added projects for the centres in SIT, Polytechnics, ITE and other IHLs and RIs.
• Identify emerging trends and opportunities in sustainability to position SIT as a key partner in environmental sustainability innovation.

Project Management

• Secure funding for research and innovation projects through grant applications and proposals.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of sustainability-related projects, ensuring timely completion and high-quality outcomes.
• Monitor project progress, budgets, and milestones, providing regular updates to stakeholders.

Professional Development and Expertise

• Stay updated with developments in sustainability innovation, including new technologies, regulations, and industry practices.

Job Requirements:

• A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Engineering with sustainability training, or a related field. A Master’s or PhD is preferred.
• At least 5 years of relevant industry experience, with a proven track record in sustainability innovation and ESG integration.
• Strong knowledge of environmental technologies, resource management, and sustainable business practices.
• Familiarity with relevant sustainability certifications and standards, such as ISO 14044, etc.
• Experience in life cycle analysis, carbon accounting, ESG reporting, and sustainability metrics.
• Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills.

Job Purpose

The Research Fellow / Research Engineer (with focus on Healthcare Design and Business) will support applied research and innovation in community and allied health by translating health-related workflow needs, user insights and business requirements into practical service-design outputs, implementation plans, value propositions and evidence reports. The role focuses on healthcare design, business scoping, project coordination and implementation support for healthcare projects.

This role is focused on Healthcare Design and Business. The candidate should have a deep understanding of health-related workflows and experience coordinating project implementation with clear outcomes delivered. The Research Fellow / Research Engineer will support academic staff and project leads, and contribute his/her assigned share to team-level KPI targets through practical design, business and implementation outputs.

Key Responsibilities

Applied Research & Development

• Perform clinical needs assessment, user research, service-journey mapping and workflow analysis for organisational innovation transition, focusing on but not limited to community and aged care settings, nursing homes, hospitals, home-based care and palliative care settings.
• Develop healthcare service-design concepts, business requirements and implementation roadmaps for organisational transition, focusing on but not limited to caregiver workload reduction, care-process redesign, adoption planning and care automation support.
• Support healthcare innovation projects by coordinating user feedback, pilot planning, implementation activities, data collection and outcome documentation for Proof of Concept (POC) and deployment in community-care or healthcare settings.

Industry Collaboration

• Support collaborations with industry and healthcare partners to understand workflow pain points, user needs, business requirements and implementation constraints, and contribute to practical solution development.
• Assist in project scoping by gathering workflow, design, business and implementation inputs, and by identifying relevant capabilities within the ecosystem (IHLs, research centres, industry partners).
• Participate in industry meetings, discussions, and project engagements.

Project Execution & Support

• Assist Professional Officers, faculty and project leads in planning, coordinating and executing assigned healthcare design, business and implementation workstreams, including timeline tracking, documentation and follow-up on deliverables linked to the committed KPI areas: service volume, innovation initiatives, value capture, manpower training and ecosystem establishment.
• Generate project reports, presentations, service maps, user-journey documentation, business-case inputs, implementation trackers and evidence documentation on the development, validation, deployment and value capture of healthcare solutions and applications.
• Contribute to grant proposals and project submissions where required.
• Track project progress and maintain proper documentation of milestones, deliverables, risks/issues, partner inputs, funding status and measurable outcomes for assigned projects.
• Support the IaaS Center for Community and Allied Health Innovation in achieving team-level KPI outcomes through assigned design, business, implementation documentation and project support tasks.
• Contribute to assigned analytics workstreams and projects, including data analytics projects and digital dashboard development for industry partners, hospitals, aged care homes, and non-profit organisations, encompassing proposal development, partner engagement, analytics scoping, and project documentation.
• Coordinate assigned workstreams within the team's innovation portfolio, supporting the delivery and deployment of new or improved products, processes, and services to healthcare and community organisations, while monitoring implementation, adoption, and analytics evidence to support value-capture documentation.
• Support training, demonstration, and workshop delivery for company employees and healthcare professionals, contributing to the team's capability-building and knowledge-transfer goals.
• Role-specific skill focus — Healthcare Design and Business: conduct user and workflow research; prepare service maps, implementation plans, business-case inputs and value-capture documentation; support evidence for KPI and project-outcome reporting, including outreach to companies and/or healthcare providers; and translate workflow and business insights into practical recommendations for Professional Officers, faculty, project leads and healthcare partners.

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years experience OR Master's degree with 2+ years experience in Health Sciences, Nursing, Healthcare Management, Design, Business, Service Design, Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Research or related disciplines with relevant experience in healthcare design, business scoping, project implementation or healthcare innovation related work.
• Strong knowledge and experience in clinical workflows, particularly in hospitals, nursing homes, home-based care, palliative care settings and other community care settings.
• Hands-on experience in clinical validation studies, including patient needs assessment and usability testing, is highly advantageous.

Job Purpose

The primary responsibility of this role is to support the implementation, testing, and validation of the high-frequency ultrasound research platform through experimental setup, data acquisition, software development, and day-to-day technical execution of the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, implementation, and testing of signal processing and imaging algorithms for high-frequency ultrasound structural and functional imaging.
• Support experimental setup, data collection, phantom preparation, system calibration, and routine operation of imaging hardware and associated measurement equipment.
• Conduct bench top and phantom experiments according to defined protocols, and assist in organizing, processing, and documenting experimental data.
• Develop and maintain software scripts, processing pipelines, and visualization tools for imaging experiments and performance evaluation.
• Support system integration activities involving sensors, data acquisition hardware, software interfaces, and computational workflows.
• Help prepare technical documentation, reports, figures, and datasets needed for project reviews, publications, and presentations.
• Maintain laboratory records, inventory, and equipment logs, and support procurement, setup, and troubleshooting of components and consumables.
• Assist in training and supporting students or project users in the use of the developed systems and software.

Job Requirements

• MTech, MSc, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Technology, Instrumentation, Computer Engineering, Signal Processing, or a related field.
• Good knowledge of signal processing, imaging, electronics, instrumentation, or medical device-related development.
• Hands-on experience in programming, preferably in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar environments.
• Experience in experimental work, data collection, and system troubleshooting is desirable.
• Familiarity with ultrasound imaging, biomedical instrumentation, image processing, or machine learning is desirable.
• Ability to follow technical protocols accurately and to maintain clear documentation of work performed.
