The Centre for Advanced Technologies in Online Safety (CATOS; https://www.catos.sg) was established in 2023 to host Singapore's Online Trust and Safety (OTS) Programme, a national research programme that leads the advancement of whole-of-nation technology capabilities to monitor and tackle online harms. The Systems Engineering Pillar of CATOS focuses on translational research and development, including evaluating, testing and integrating research output into needle-moving applications. One of the major outcomes will be a technological platform with an integrated suite of deep tech OTS engines, which analyses various internet sites and platforms for fast-trending harmful online content, such as non-factual claims, deepfakes, and hateful and toxic content. • Supervise and assist individual or small groups of students in activities/educational tasks set by teachers

• Assist teachers in preparation of instructional materials and/or classroom environment for lessons

• Provide support for students with MID, Autism and other developmental disabilities. Priority is to support these students to develop skills to enhance personal care and independence, and support daily lessons/activities in and beyond the classroom including student profiling.

• Work with functional committees to plan and implement school-wide educational and recreational programmes.

• Collaborate and consult with allied professionals, parents/caregivers and external agencies to ensure quality support and well-being of students.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum GCE “O” level, NITEC, or equivalent

• Possess good Time Management, Problem Solving and Decision Making and Effective Oral and Written Communications Skills.

• Possess prior experience educating persons with Mild Intellectual Disabilities (MID)

• Possess working knowledge of educational technology applications

• Proven effective classroom and student behaviour management skills

Job Description

This research project aims to develop a new coastal protection system that can be deployed only when needed and fully retracted under normal conditions. The proposed system uses offshore jack-up platforms, similar to those in the marine industry, to temporarily support a telescopic flood barrier that can extend during extreme events and retract afterwards. 

The research staff will undertake the engineering analysis and design of coastal barrier structures, which keeps waterways open for navigation, preserves sea views, and reduces the need for large permanent structures on the seabed or along the coast

Job Requirements

•    Possess at least a bachelor’s in civil or mechanical engineering or related disciplines.
•    A master’s degree is preferred.

Job Description

This research aims to improve how to design coastal structures in Singapore by developing locally relevant guidelines for wave overtopping. The research focus on the landward (rear side) impacts caused by wave overtopping behind coastal protection measures (CPMs)—for example, erosion and instability that can compromise the CPM’s structural integrity and public safety.

The selected research staff will be required to work in a multi-disciplinary team on the engineering analysis and design of the coastal structures under overtopping loading actions, support coastal planners, engineers, and policymakers in making informed decisions for a safer and more economically sustainable coastal defences in Singapore.

Job Description

The job holder is to work with PI and the research team on the following:

- Assembling, operating, trouble shooting, calibrating and maintaining low-cost sensors detecting airborne pollutants.

- Analyzing low-cost sensor data against reference instrument with meaningful results

- Joining and supporting field studies

- Devising, configuring and optimizing wireless communication among various gadgets with spatial and temporal data

Qualifications

·    Basic knowledge of embedded systems and microcontrollers (e.g. Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi)

·    Familiarity with firmware/software development in C/C++ or Python

·    Basic understanding of electronic circuits and sensor interfacing (I2C, UART, SPI)

·    Comfortable with hands-on hardware assembly and troubleshooting
