Position Overview

EOS Innovation Singapore is seeking software engineers across a range of experience levels to support the development of advanced defence products. These are hands-on engineering roles embedded within multidisciplinary teams of mechanical, electronic, optical and systems engineers. The work combines software development with real hardware integration, experimental subsystems and evolving product requirements, and will suit engineers who enjoy solving practical problems, working close to prototypes and equipment, and turning emerging capability into robust, production-ready software.

Primary Duties

This role contributes to the design, development, integration, verification and support of software used in complex defence systems. Engineers in this position will work across activities such as equipment interfacing, control and automation, algorithm implementation, user interfaces, test support and system integration. More experienced candidates will be expected to provide technical leadership, guide software design decisions, mentor less experienced engineers and help shape robust engineering practices. Earlier-career candidates will be expected to contribute strongly to hands-on development, integration and problem-solving, while growing into increased technical ownership over time.

Responsibilities

·       Design, develop, test, integrate and maintain software for advanced defence products, ranging from equipment interfacing and control functions to data processing, automation and user-facing applications.

·      Work closely with multi disciplinary engineering teams to integrate software with prototypes, experimental hardware, embedded devices and evolving system designs.

·      Translate engineering requirements into practical software designs and contribute to verification and validation activities to demonstrate performance, safety and compliance.

·      Investigate and resolve technical issues encountered during development, integration, test and production support, including unexpected behaviours at system and equipment level.

·      Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, including design descriptions, interface definitions, test procedures, test records and manufacturing support material.

·      Apply sound software engineering practices, including version control, code review, debugging, testing and configuration management.

·      For more experienced candidates, lead software design activities, contribute to architecture decisions, support design reviews and provide technical guidance to other engineers.

·      Engage with internal stakeholders and customers to clarify requirements, communicate technical progress and support engineering decisions throughout the product lifecycle.

Education and Experience

·       Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.

·      Experience with software development tools and practices, including source control, development environments, compilers, debugging and test tools.

·      Experience in one or more relevant technical areas such as C, C++, Python, embedded or Linux-based development, hardware interfacing, network communications, web-based interfaces, JSON or automated test is desirable.

·      Experience taking software from concept through prototyping, integration, verification and release is advantageous; for senior candidates, this is expected.

·      Experience working in defence, safety-critical, regulated or other high-integrity engineering environments is beneficial.

Airwallex Risk Platform Team is responsible for protecting all Airwallex products across the lifecycle, including GTPN, PA, Issuing, Onboarding, and Account Takeover. The risk landscape evolves rapidly and fraud techniques are becoming increasingly sophisticated. We build scalable, reliable, and intelligent risk capabilities to stay ahead—helping Airwallex remain a trusted global partner for businesses.

What you’ll do

Our mission is to keep Airwallex’s products and services safe and secure. We continuously improve risk strategies and systems using modern technologies, including graph, machine learning, and LLMs/Gen AI, to detect and prevent fraud and abuse at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and operate core transaction risk services and infrastructure using Kotlin/Java, supporting payment products and transaction systems.

• Own end-to-end delivery of key components and services on Airwallex’s microservice framework: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and observability.

Who you are

We're looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in Java/Kotlin backend development, with proven delivery in internet-scale applications, large financial systems, or e-commerce platforms.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields (or equivalent practical experience).

• Strong knowledge of Java ecosystem, including concurrency/multithreading, high-throughput IO (NIO), and network communication fundamentals.

• Solid foundation in distributed systems design: high concurrency, high load, high availability, resilience, and scalability.

• Strong engineering practices: performance tuning, service stability, data/query optimization, and production troubleshooting.

• Experience with Spring / Spring Boot and designing RESTful APIs.

• Familiarity with build tools such as Gradle/Maven.

• Familiarity with common data formats such as JSON (XML is a plus, not a must).

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Strong domain knowledge in risk management, fraud detection, and fintech payment risk strategies.

• Experience with graph databases and graph-based pattern/anomaly detection.

• Experience applying machine learning for predictive risk analytics (model integration, feature engineering collaboration, etc.).

• Experience with real-time streaming and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Flink) for low-latency detection and response.

• Experience with large-scale analytics and storage technologies (e.g., ClickHouse, Spark, NoSQL) for risk analysis and investigations.

• Incident response experience, including mitigation planning and post-incident improvement.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a cross-regional, cross-functional environment.

• Familiarity with LLM evaluation and safety practices (offline/online evals, red teaming, prompt injection defenses, PII handling, and guardrails) for enterprise use cases.

• Partner with software engineers and other functions to understand objectives for development delivery efficiency and system resiliency, helping them articulate how specific technical capabilities and best practices will achieve key business outcomes.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of Agency’s existing technical landscapes, workflows, and processes to identify inefficiencies, pain points, and gaps that hinder their goals.
• Collaborate with Agency to identify the most relevant practices (e.g., CI/CD, SRE) for using Core Engineering Products in achieving their goals, considering unique needs and industry best practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years in an individual contributor software engineering role.
• Experience with NodeJs with TypeScript.
• Experience with one or more of Cloud Service Providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience building cron jobs and scripts to run batch jobs.
• Experience with streaming data.
• Strong track record of successful large-scale partner solution implementations, preferably in complex enterprise environments
• Exceptional communication skills with ability to bridge technical discussions between internal teams and external partners

Primary Purpose

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Control and Software Engineer to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of advanced control systems and embedded software for next-generation Solid State Transformers (SST), high-power grid-tied inverters, and large-scale renewable energy integration platforms.

You will drive technical innovation in medium- and high-voltage power electronics for applications including data center electrification, utility-scale renewables, microgrids, EV charging infrastructure, and smart grid systems. This senior role involves end-to-end technical ownership—from control strategy definition and system modeling to real-time software implementation, validation, and field deployment—while mentoring junior engineers and influencing technology roadmap decisions.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the development and optimization of real-time control algorithms for Solid State Transformers (multi-stage, multilevel, and resonant topologies) and grid-connected inverters operating in both grid-forming and grid-following modes.
