HANS LASER TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY GROUP (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Automation Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, testing, commissioning, and technical support of advanced laser processing machines and industrial automation systems.
This role involves electrical control system design, PLC/HMI programming, motion control, servo integration, robotics, and machine commissioning for high-precision laser cutting, laser welding, laser marking, and automated production equipment. The ideal candidate is passionate about automation technologies and enjoys solving complex engineering challenges in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical control systems for laser processing machines and industrial automation equipment.
- Prepare electrical schematics, control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, terminal drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Develop, modify, and optimize PLC, HMI, and motion control programs for machine automation.
- Configure and integrate servo motors, linear motors, motion controllers, VFDs, sensors, safety devices, and industrial communication networks.
- Integrate industrial robots, machine vision systems, barcode readers, and peripheral automation equipment into laser production lines.
- Perform electrical wiring verification, machine testing, debugging, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and machine commissioning.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, automation, and control system issues during machine assembly, installation, and customer support.
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Software, Production, and Service teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet customer specifications.
- Ensure all machine designs comply with electrical safety regulations and relevant international standards.
- Prepare technical documentation, operating manuals, and commissioning reports.
- Provide technical training and after-sales engineering support to customers and service engineers.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine performance, reliability, safety, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Travel locally and internationally for machine installation, commissioning, maintenance, and technical support when required.
Job Requirements
- Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in industrial automation, machine building, or manufacturing equipment. Fresh graduates with strong automation project experience are encouraged to apply.
- Hands-on experience in PLC programming using platforms
- Experience developing HMI applications and machine control software.
- Strong knowledge of motion control systems, including servo motors, linear motors, multi-axis synchronization, and positioning systems.
- Experience designing electrical control panels and preparing electrical documentation using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent CAD software.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, and CANopen.
- Good understanding of industrial sensors, pneumatics, safety circuits, and machine interlock systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for electrical and automation systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot control systems independently.
- Good communication, teamwork, and project coordination skills.
- Willingness to travel for machine commissioning and customer technical support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with laser cutting, laser welding, laser marking, laser cleaning, or other laser processing equipment.
- Experience integrating industrial robots such as FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, KUKA, or Universal Robots.
- Knowledge of machine vision systems.
- Familiarity with precision motion control, CNC systems, and high-speed automation equipment.
- Experience with MES, IIoT, Industry 4.0, and production data acquisition.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards, including IEC, CE, UL, and machine risk assessment.
- Experience supporting overseas customers and participating in global installation or commissioning projects.
